Waste of money- so disappointed

By Al

from Point Richmond, CA

Comments about gPants - Genius Blue:

These are the most disappointing cloth diaper purchase we did, such a waste of money. Like another review stated, I am shocked so many people are pleased with these- maybe these are the only cloth they have tried? Again, I am nowhere near an expert on cloth diapering and I know different diapers work well for different babies but there are way too many things wrong with these diapers for me to think they really work well for anyone.

First off-the snap in liner is designed terribly. The back of the snaps rub against baby's skin and make marks. Not to mention we have to change the whole gpant-not just the liner and insert at EVERY diaper change with these when there is a poop, and almost every time with a pee as well. These are designed so you can just change the white snap in liner and insert but I don't find this is the case. It will never contain it and always ends up getting on the edges of the white snap in liner and onto the gpant. When we first bought these we would have enough gpants ready to go for the whole day and then I was going to just change out the liners and inserts each evening and re-use the gpant themselves- that never happened. Also, I found the snap in liners are not nearly wide or long enough, there is definitely not enough coverage to contain messes. There is a good 1-2 inches on both the front and back of the gpant on my baby (who is in size large gpants) where it is just the fabric of the gpant against babies skin. The velcro- horrible , and I find it quite annoying that it velcros in the back instead of to the front. Velcroing these onto a squirmy almost 1 year old is not fun.

Since we have to change the whole gpant at every diaper change that means we are washing the gpant every time as well which means more wear and tear. I do not put any of the items in the dryer but still found the fabric outer of the gpant showed signs of wear and tear pretty quickly-within a few weeks. There is no way I would be able to use these with a second baby.

We have several cloth diapers and I really wanted to love these but there are so many issues with them that they are now just sitting in the babies closest un-used. Try Charlie Banana, Sloomb, Organic Kissas if you want great diapers. We use Charlie Banana during the day and Sloomb or the Organic Kissaluv fitteds at night time with a wool cover-LOVE the combo.

Don't waste your money on the gpants. We bought 15 gpants and 2 extra boxes of the snap in liners and that wasn't even enough to last us 2 days since we had to change everything at every diaper change. I was changing the gpants almost twice as much as our other cloth diapers. Like another review mentioned the snap in white liners are not fully waterproof like a typical outer layer of a daytime diaper- which is a huge reason why these get messes on the fabric gpant constantly. I will say these might work on a very small baby. We didn't buy them until LO was 10 months old and only used them for MAYBE a month (with other diapers in rotation) before they went in the closet un-used.
