The Fisher Price laptop got the right stuff in it. My son has been using it for over 1,5 years and it still works! He opens it and plays on it almost every day, and we never had to change the battery. Magic! Songs are especially attractive to kids. Excellent introduction to learning Spanish. After a year we only lost appearance of numbers on its screen, but that did not cause my son to stop loving it. Now he is 3 and we are ready to move on to the next level. But this has been a real helper in his shapes, numbers, Spanish and alphabet learning. Highly recommend to anyone. Would give it all 5 Stars if not for the malfunction of the lights on its screen. It still is worth every penny, whether lights work or not. My kid played rough with it when he was 2 and it still performs, sounds and looks the same!
You can get it for a 12 mo old and let her/him grow with it. My son is 3 and he still loves it!

My mother bought one for my son when he was six months, and he wasn't really interested in it until he was about nine months old when he started walking. He really likes the sounds it makes when you open and close it and I love that it's a bi-linqual toy since my son is bilingual.

My 8month old daughter loves this she is always dancing to ABC song.THe lights capture her attention and the sounds intrigue her.

The numerous settings (music, alphabet, numbers,spanish,etc) are wonderful to keep kids entertained for long periods of time. The mouse is a bit difficult to turn and the lid a bit flimsy (closes down easily) for any child under one but this is still a great little, portable kiddie gadget.

Got it the other day and so far he's most interested in opening and closing it and playing with the ball. I think this will be a good one!
