Our 6 month old son likes to dump the bucket and drool/teeth on the shapes. He's not quite ready to match the shapes, but definitely has a favorite!

Great to learn about taking things out and put things back into a box. Bright colors, good size. I personally like that the lid is easily removed so she can decide to take if off - she's not quite ready to shape sort anyway.

My son loves to dump out all the blocks and then he plays with everything separately, including the top and the bucket. Sometimes I stack all the blocks for him to knock over, which he gets a big kick out of.

This has been a great toy. We started using it around 5 months when our daughter was sitting up. We build towers for her and she knocks them over. She likes to play with the bucket itself, the blocks and the lid. Now at 10 months, she will try to gather as many blocks in her hands and crawl around with them and she still loves to knock over the towers we build. It was a great purchase and I foresee more hours of play to come!

My son loved this toy from about 10 months when he just liked emptying out the box and hearing the blocks rattle until about now (13 months), when he gets the whole shape concept, and knows what the blocks are supposed to do. Hours of entertainment and great for teaching babies about shapes and colors. We love this block set!

My daughter received this at 6 months and loved it. Now at almost 1 year it is still among her favorites. She doesn't sort the shapes yet, put enjoys taking them out and putting them back in with the lid off. She likes for me to stack them and them knocks them over. We talk to her about the colors and the shapes while we play. Great toy!

Comments about Fisher Price Baby's First Blocks:

Our little girl loves this toy. At 3 months she started holding each of the shapes as she practiced picking up objects. She is now 9 months and is putting the shapes into the box and taking them out again. The next stage will be figuring out that she can fit the shapes into the appropriate cut outs. It's portable and easy to clean, which makes it a worry free share toy for play dates. The shapes are colorful and the box has extra room to stuff a couple of other small toys. You can take it to the park, the beach, and the shapes can be used as bath toys.

My daughter loves to hold these up to her nose for some reason and "sniff" through them. Since they have a hole in each of the blocks, this is fine.
The blocks are easy for little hands to grasp, since they're different shapes and indented. She hasn't had any interest in putting the blocks through the corresponding holes yet, but she LOVES to knock down the little "towers" we build for her with them. My Mom came up with the idea tonight of counting as we put each block on the tower. Always possibilities for learning... you're only limited by your imagination!

I remember this toy from when I was little. Love the idea of the shapes in many colors. My son loves to play with the shapes. The only problem is he's figued out how to take the top off, so he never uses it to push the shapes into the appropriate holes. Instead he just puts them in and out of box. If looking for a shape sorter, you may want something that has a locking lid.
