          Comments about Baby's First Blocks:

We bought this for our 8 month old grandson who lives across the country from us. By skype we have seen him handling and mouthing the pieces (just the right size) and toppling them when stacked. The toy has many functions. When he is older he can put in and dump out the shapes and then recognize, label and place the shapes. This shape box is an excellent old standard.

            Comments about Baby's First Blocks:

I got this for my 6 month old son. He's too little for bigger toys but growing out of the rattle stage. I was hesitant to get this for him thinking it would be too much for him at this point, but I was very wrong. He LOVES this toy. Yes, the top comes off VERY easily but he's six months old. That's the point. Of course, at this point, he's not putting the star in the star hole or anything but he loves dumping everything out of the box and chewing on the blocks and banging the top on everything. It has kept him occupied for a half hour already and he doesn't seem like he's ready to move onto something else. I'm confident he'll continue to like it as he gets older and is able to identify shapes and learn to put them in the appropriate holes. I'm very happy I bought this and would definitely do so again.

            Comments about Baby's First Blocks:

The toy says it's meant for 6 month olds, but it certainly isn't. I've had this toy since my son was 6 months old- he is now turning 2 and FINALLY started putting the shapes through the holes. If you are expecting this toy to be played with in its intended manner, 2 years old is about right.

A few things are frustrating about this toy. One is that the lid doesn't fit on easily- because there is a handle in the way, it's tricky for a little kid to get it to sit just right on the top. Also, it would be nice if there were a way to latch the lid on to keep it stable when they try to put the shapes in. I remember having a ball-shaped sorter when I was a kid where the sides stayed together- that would be a much better toy than this.

              Comments about Baby's First Blocks:

I bought this for my almost 8 mth old, but she's at the stage still where she puts everything in her mouth. ThIs toy is great for that as well as putting shapes in appropriate holes. The whole toy is durable and I don't worry about her choking on anything either. Blocks are just the right size and I love that the blocks have plastic lips so she can get her mouth over them. I'm sure as she develops, she'll start putting shapes in holes, but for now she's disinterested when I start to show her and she just wants to mouth the whole thing.

                Comments about Baby's First Blocks:

Since the day I gave these blocks to my son (who is about 7 months old now), about a month or so ago, he's been happily entertained by them. He loves the red bucket and blue handle. He loves to bang one shape onto another. He very quickly understood to remove the lid (which he also enjoys playing with and banging the shapes on) to get to the blocks inside. He doesn't understand that the blocks go into the holes in the lid yet, but that was expected. He also enjoys knocking over the towers I make for him. =) We "race" to see if Mom can build the tower before he knocks it down lol. Would highly recommend!

We just got this for our 9-month baby and she can't get enough of it. She plays with it for such a long time. She loves to put the little shapes in and out of the box. It's great quality and I think she will love this as she gets older too and figures out how each shape goes through it's respective shape on the box's lid. I highly recommend this toy. You can't beat the price!

                    • Without bucket on floor

Comments about Fisher Price Baby's First Blocks:

I have had this for my son since he was maybe 10 months old. He is now 2. He is a perfectionist child so the fact that the slightest nudge will knock the lid off frustrates him (and me). He will sometimes just take the lid off to get the shapes in the bucket because he doesn't need to figure out where they fit that way. There is no clicking mechanism or anything to keep the lid secure. I have used it without the bucket altogether and had him slip the shapes into their places with the lid set on the floor, but they are taller than the lid so they stick out a bit this way. Best advice, find a more classic shape sorter without this problem. There are two others I have considered replacing this one with on yoyo.com.

This has been a great toy. We started using it around 5 months when our daughter was sitting up. We build towers for her and she knocks them over. She likes to play with the bucket itself, the blocks and the lid. Now at 10 months, she will try to gather as many blocks in her hands and crawl around with them and she still loves to knock over the towers we build. It was a great purchase and I foresee more hours of play to come!

My son loved this toy from about 10 months when he just liked emptying out the box and hearing the blocks rattle until about now (13 months), when he gets the whole shape concept, and knows what the blocks are supposed to do. Hours of entertainment and great for teaching babies about shapes and colors. We love this block set!

My daughter received this at 6 months and loved it. Now at almost 1 year it is still among her favorites. She doesn't sort the shapes yet, put enjoys taking them out and putting them back in with the lid off. She likes for me to stack them and them knocks them over. We talk to her about the colors and the shapes while we play. Great toy!

Our little girl loves this toy. At 3 months she started holding each of the shapes as she practiced picking up objects. She is now 9 months and is putting the shapes into the box and taking them out again. The next stage will be figuring out that she can fit the shapes into the appropriate cut outs. It's portable and easy to clean, which makes it a worry free share toy for play dates. The shapes are colorful and the box has extra room to stuff a couple of other small toys. You can take it to the park, the beach, and the shapes can be used as bath toys.
