Comments about Tri Vi Sol Vitamin with Iron with Dropper:

Consider DILUTING the product if your child doesn't like it! It's concentrated stuff. Our baby is breastfed, and has mild anemia, so our pediatrician reccommended Poly vi sol. Our local store was out, so we got this instead. Added to his bottled milk, and he drinks it down no problem. Later, I got the Poly vi sol, and WOW that is bitter! This is nothing in comparison. I'm using it up half and half with this product. If I gave it to him straight shot, undiluted, my little guy would probably balk, but diluted in his bottle he puts it away without any notice. When he gets older, I'll probably put it in milk or fruit smoothie to dilute the taste. No biggie.

Comments about Tri Vi Sol Vitamin with Iron with Dropper:

my daughter happily takes her vitamins every evening before we brush her teeth and she goes to bed. previously I had to mix the vitamin with her evening bottle, but now she is able to and doesnt mind taking stright from dropper. pricing at diapers.com is very comparable if not cheaper, and [...] it works out well. It gives me a better feeling that she is getting her vitamins this way even if she does have all of her veggies/fruits a day.

Comments about Tri Vi Sol Vitamin with Iron with Dropper:

I have been giving this product to my son for about 2 months now. He pretty much takes to everything and has had no issues with taking this medicine. I shoot it into the back side of his cheek and he just swallows. It wasn't until recently that I accidentally spelt this product on my table and noticed the metal smell... not to mention the taste (blood/metallic). WOW my son has been taking this like a champ!!! I agree with the other comments that it is absolutely gross... and why would you give it to your child if it tastes so nasty... HOWEVER, if you have to give your child Iron because he won't take a single spoonful of rice cereal or oatmeal again AND he/she actually takes it with no fight then more power to you. It works and does what it is supposed to do.

      Yuck! Cereal has iron too...

Comments about Tri Vi Sol Vitamin with Iron with Dropper:

Let it be known that cereal contains a lot of iron too-- no need to punish your baby with these drops. Yes, I said PUNISH.

As a matter of routine, I taste pretty much everything I give my baby-- I would not ask my child to eat something I wouldn't eat myself. My ped. recommended I supplement with Trivisol since my son consumes only 1 bottle of formula daily (primarily BF). When I first bought these, I did not realize that they also come in an iron-free formula, because this was the only variety available at the store I shop at. Suffice to say, it is nasty, nasty, stuff. Atrocious-- it made me gag, and yes, it made my son gag too.

So I threw out the bottle and found the Trivisol iron-free variety-- it's not exactly delicious, but it's nothing like this stuff (the iron-free tastes like a children's chewable-- sweet and mildly fruity).

Read the label on your baby's cereal, if they're eating solids-- you don't need these awful, awful drops for iron supplementation-- plenty of iron in cereal. Get the iron-free variety-- those are completely tolerable. These drops, however, would make a horse sick. I would consider it cruel to give these to my child. They garner 2 stars instead of 1 only because they DO provide necessary nutrients.

Comments about Tri Vi Sol Vitamin with Iron with Dropper:

Yes, this stuff tastes terrible. But over time I was able to get my son to open his mouth on his own so that I can place the dropper toward the back of his mouth, squeeze the amount into his throat and he swallows it. By getting him to open up wide I think I mostly bypass his tongue. At first and for a while he would make a face but knowing that with breast feeding he would need the additional iron we just stuck with it and now he opens his mouth upon site of the bottle. I don't think I have an exceptionally compliant baby, but with a consistent routine he just knows he can't get out of it and "takes his medicine".

I bought this when the store was out of TriViSol without iron. Big mistake. This smells like a metal zipper and tastes horrible. Other reviewers commented that it tasted like blood or a rusty skillet. I agree. I also was concerned that the rust/blood smell remained on my hands for hours, and after I had washed them several times. It also stained my fingers. After that episode, I thought to myself - do I really want my baby to be ingesting something that tastes and smells like this? No way.

The Doctor told us to give our daughter these drops and we have been, but they need to improve on this product. She hates to take it. She usually tries to spit it out and now starts to really fuss when she sees me reach for the bottle. And it stains her clothes really bad. I have to treat any spots, and even then sometimes the stain won't come out. There have been a few outfits we've lost.

This was recommended by our pediatrician, so I'm sure it is a quality product. But it leaves spots on my daughter's clothes and even on her skin. (I never had that problem with the tri-vi-sol without iron.) So you might want to give it to your baby when she isn't wearing a favorite outfit, or maybe when she isn't wearing anything at all.

I use this for my son seeing as he is breastfed, and it seems to smell better then the poly-vi-sol, but he still seems to hate the way it tastes because of the iron. He ends up salivating a lot after I give it to him. But if your child is breastfed, they will need the extra iron.

My baby cried and cried when we squirted this in his mouth. Then my husband and I tried it and it tastes horrible, like licking a rusty skillet. It is difficult to get your baby to take this if he/she does not take bottles very often and you have nothing to mix it in. Also be careful because it stains fabric and skin.
