Comments about Nutramigen Ready to Feed Formula - 32 oz:

I tried everything. She started on enfamil but was always fussy, then lactose free enfamil, and even though everyone said to check with your dr first I just switched her and shes so much happier. It is more expensive but I find the liquid makes a big difference over the powder because its so easy to screw up and the powder constipates her and makes her really fussyl

Comments about Nutramigen Ready to Feed Formula - 32 oz - 6 pk:

My four month old daughter has been on formula/breast milk since she was born because I never developed enough milk to fully sustain her. I first tried Enfamil Newborn and that made her awfully gassy and fussy. At 2 months I switched to Enfamil Gentlease which seemed to work for a while, but she became extremely constipated. So bad sometimes that she would have specks of blood in her hard stools. Her Dr. recommended adding prune juice. But after several weeks of constant spitting up and still constipated, I switched to Enfamil Soy. After a month on Soy she was still having very hard BM's. At her 4 month check-up her Dr. recommended Nutramigen. It's only been a few days, but she's already had soft, normal BM's every day.

I've tasted every formula she's been on and none of them taste good to me, but as long as my daughter drinks it that's all I care about. I also don't notice any different smell than the others. When she was on Soy, her BM's smelled almost toxic and the formula left a greasy residue on the bottles. But now her BM's are normal.

So far this works for us, but as I've learned in these short four months is that all babies are different and their bodies are constantly changing. What works now may not work next month, but we're going to stick with it as long as it makes her happy. It is more expensive than the others, but I'll pay any price to keep my baby happy. I hope this helps.

Comments about Nutramigen Ready to Feed Formula - 32 oz - 6 pk:

Had to try this formula due to recall of Similac Alimentum. First I read all the reviews to find out that this is the same staff as Similac one. Since Similac in 32oz cans disappeared suddenly from everywhere, I got no choice but to buy this one. At the very first feeding my 3 month old son rejected it. My daughter (I have twins) at the meantime ate it, but she is not that picky. But, on the next day the disaster started - they ate a bit, then started to cry non stop & there was no way to make them eat this one again...
BTW I have to mention that it looks good, no awful smell at all, actually the smell is pretty similar to Similac, no stains, everything is good at the first sight.
Therefore - it's up to your baby to eat it or to reject it. Give it a try anyway.

My son was born with awful silent reflux and I was not sure what to do. He was gassy, and crying during feedings and after feedings. But he was gaining weight fine and had BM fine so his Dr. basically told me too bad he will out grow it in a few months when he's more developed. I couldn't take all the crying and wanted to make him feel better, we had tried 4 different formulas before sucking it up and trying this one. My son is not allergic to dairy, and did not have colic, but the other formula we tried for gas and reflux seemed to make him feel worse. So after reading a ton of reviews and doing research online we tracked down this formula and made the switch. And he was almost instantly better, within a few days he was happy during feedings and we were not having the same issues as before. Now as far as taste goes I am not sure how one determines it taste bad? Are other parents tasting the formula I mean seriously, no matter what formula I gave my son he drank it no problem he didn't seem to care and this was formula #5 that we had tried. The smell is not that bad and I haven't had an issue with any stains on his clothing etc. I could care less what it cost because I would have spent every dime I had on anything to make him feel better. My Dr. didn't tell us about the formula I think as a parent sometimes you have to trust your instinct and not think what the Dr. says is what you must do. I couldn't imagine how the last few months would have been had I not made the switch. It may not work for everyone but it worked for us.

To put it simply, this is the best formula that money and buy. This was the only formula that my daughter could easily digest. She was unable to breast feed and I went through countless other formulas before landing on this one. She enjoys it and jumps right on her bottle. Sorry, but you get what you pay for. I would rather feed my daughter something that is most easily digestible then for her to struggle with gas and stomach pains. I HIGHLY recommend this formula above and beyond all else for parents with a colicky baby.

I just want to add that the twins are doing great at 5 months old now, and they love their Nutramigen. Any baby can learn to love whatever they are fed. Normal formulas taste terrible to adults too. It is not fair to say that the taste is terrible. No baby will refuse this formula for taste unless they are simply used to something else. In that case, they can get used to this if you change to Nutramigen gradually. The twins are also on Whole Grain Rice Cereal, Carrot Juice, Avacado, and Banana. All fresh, wholesome foods. They still drink about 32-35 oz. of Nutramigen per day. Cannot say enough good about it. :)

We have a history of milk and soy allergies with our two other children. Our newborn daughter seemed to following the same path. It was recommended that we switch to nutramigen when she was 5 weeks old due to her severe gas and discomfort. If you can get your baby to drink it, it will probably work. However, it tastes so bad that our daughter stopped eating. We had to mix it with a soy formula just to get her to drink at all.It is awful!!! We switched to the other major brand of hypoallergenic formula and she drank that down with no problem. It smells and tastes MUCH better than this. Now we have a happy baby!!!

This formula was recommended for my constipated baby by a top Manhattan gastroenterologist. Just a few hours after starting this formula, my baby had a bowel movement and since then has seemed happier and more comfortable. His skin even cleared up. I started out breastfeeding but eventually switched to Similac Advance. I figured it must be good since they were using it at the hospital. Well, they gave me Jell-O practically every meal at the hospital, too, but that ain't good. And I certainly didn't run home and buy a case of it, either! I will agree that the formula doesn't smell very good, but what does that matter when it comes to the health of your child? It's called give your baby a bath, sprinkle some cornstarch on him, and feed him this wonderful formula to keep him healthy and happy. Yes, it's expensive. So are trips to the doctor if your child gets sick because you don't want to shell out a couple of extra bucks for this fantastic stuff. I guess my baby's palate just isn't as refined as some of these other babies because he drinks this formula just fine without any problems. I have never tasted this or any other formula because I'm an intelligent, rational adult who doesn't have to drink her meals. So I couldn't say whether this formula tastes good or not. My baby has done a complete 180 from fussy, constipated, and unhappy to calm, serene, and able to go easily since using this formula.

Comments about Nutramigen Ready to Feed Formula - 32 oz - 6 pk:

Nutramigen is the best formula for babies if you must substitute for Mother's Milk. It is the closest to the "real thing!" The family I am with at present has a friend who works for Enfamil, and he said that Nutramigen is the top of the line and that there is none other to compare with it. I am a Newborn Care Specialist and have taken care of many newborn babies, including several sets of premature twins. Most babies do not do well on the other formulas. I believe that it is simply because it is based on cow's milk or worse yet, soy (poison for anyone). Cow's milk was created for baby cows, not baby humans. Goat's Milk is closer to human milk. However, most parents want to use some type of formula, as directed by their Dr. Thankfully, there is one that is close to breast milk, and that is, Nutramigen. Why should babies go through colic, fussiness, and even extreme pain at times...due to the normal formulas. I have literally saved the lives of some babies at 2 and 3 months old, who were constipated so bad that they were not having any BM at all! It is not normal for a baby to have hard pebbly BM's before they start solid foods especially! Use breast fed babies for the norm, and you will see that Nutramigen produces a BM that is much like that of a breastfed baby. It is a miracle that you will witness within a day of two of getting the baby on Nutramigen. Amazing fast results! Also babies are much happier and content on Nutramigen than the other formulas. The babies I am caring for now have been on Nutramigen since they were 2 weeks old. They were already getting constipated on the normal formula. These babies are 3 1/2 months old now and doing great. They were sleeping through the night, 7 hrs. at 7 wks, etc., up to 12-13 hrs. at 12 weeks and up. They are on 4 meals of 8 oz. each at the present time and thriving. Hospitals and Dr.'s automatically give babies certain formulas. Please know that parents are the ones to decide what food their children should have. Drs. respect a parent who knows with confidence what their children should eat. Study up on it. :) As with any subject, one has to weigh up the pros and cons and have discernment as to what is truth. My recommendation comes through experience with many babies. I cannot help but want what is best for them, not for all the adults. Of course, Nutramigen would not taste good to an adult. Duh. :) It sure tastes good to the babies I have fed. :) They smile like crazy and love the stuff! I have also found that all stains on bibs, burp rags, clothing, blankets, etc., come out if simply treated with spray stain remover or washed with a double rinse if you have it. All formulas stain very badly, from what I have seen. Stain remover does work. :) I recommend weaning to Fresh Pasteurized Goat's Milk at one year old and to cow's milk at 2 yrs. old if desired and if child is not allergic to it at that time of life. To sum it up, Nutramigen is certainly the very best formula. It is well worth the money, though expensive, to have your child on the best possible formula for their first year. Sincerely, Nanny Diane

Most babies I have worked with have problems with formulas. I believe it is simply due to Mother's Milk being the standard. Nutramigen is the closest formula to Mother's Milk. It works best every time, compared to other formulas. Soy is one to avoid for many reasons. I have saved lives of babies who were so constipated at 2-3 months old on soy and other formulas. A friend of my present family works for Enfamil and reported to us that Nutramigen is "top of the line" and there is nothing else to compare to it. How about that! He knows how they are made, what is in them, etc. If you cannot breastfeed your child, please do consider using Nutramagin rather than trying all the others and causing needless pain and frustration for your baby. :) Written by Nanny Diane, "The Flying Nanny!" P.S. I specialize in teaching/training babies from the earliest ages in good eat-play-sleep patterns and all the babies I care for, being fed on Nutramigen or Breast Milk are sleeping through the night by 12 weeks old, that is going 12 hrs. between feedings from night to morning. Nutramigen works and I am so thankful that I can recommend it. :)

I had high hopes for this formula for my baby with severe reflux, milk protein allergy, soy allergy, and severe eczema. After reading reviews on the kind with the "flora" I decided to stick with the RTF Nutramigen without flora (it apparently caused pain in many babies). HOWEVER, my daughter screamed repeatedly every time I tried feeding this to her and she had never done that before. She has taken well to every formula we've tried in the past five months, but not this one! So it wouldn't go to waste I had to mix 1/4 Nutramigen with 3/4 other brand hypoallergenic. I really wanted this to work for us, and I did read it was yucky but I figured my girl would be fine. Wrong! I tried it, and it's definitely... different... I'm glad the other brand tastes better, but so far my daughter's allergy isn't improving so I'm afraid we'll have to go with a prescription brand. Good luck, parents!

Doctor recommended due to Acid Reflux for my baby when he was 10 wks old. This with pepcid worked really well for a while, but by the time he was 4 mos old he hated the taste and started refusing bottles. Now I mix with a soy formula which has helped but will still not take more than 4 oz unless he's half asleep. We will hopefully be able to take him completely off it by 6 mos. if not sooner.

My husband stumbled upon this formula when our baby started to become colicky after 3 weeks mark. Our baby tolerated the milk, I, as the one who feeds the baby... cannot tolerate the horrible smell of this formula. It actually terrified me to use this because of its greenish color and oftentimes I see small unmixed bubble-like substance floating on the formula itself. The loose bowel movement improved and our baby stopped passing "violent" gases. Although I will recommend this for sole purposes of colic problem, I suggest that anyone should try the Lacto-Free first.

After having two daughters who both were colicky from the get go and using many formulas this is the one and only that worked for them both! The Alimentum caused constipation issues for us, this formula eased painful bowel movements, rashes, excessive gas and many other issues. Yes it is expensive and it stinks and I am sure it tastes awful to an adult but it works and is nutritionally equivalent to other well regarded formulas. We have always used the premixed variety and love the convenience! Plus my pediatrician advised us that the premix is of better quality than the powder b/c it is thicker and does not allow for parental error when mixing. I have two beautiful, healthy girls always in the 75% plus percentiles to prove it!
