It's really great toy. Good quality and nice sound. I bought it when my baby was 11 months. Now she is 18 months and she enjoys playing "her own songs".

This is a great product. As professional musician I can assure you it is in tune (compared to some of the other products out there). It is sturdy and not made in China. The mallet is unfortunately not that great.

                  Comments about Baby Xylophone:

We received this as a gift and love it. Of course my 1 year old boys were instantly inclined to put the mallet in their mouths and crawl around with it. We tried to keep it out of their mouths as much as possible because it seemed like trouble waiting to happen. And then one day it happened: one of my boys was crawling with the mallet in his mouth and fell forward onto it. The weird oblong shape of the mallet actually caused it to lodge in his throat! When I tried to pull it out it was stuck. I was only able to remove it by twisting it to dislodge it. Needless to say it was terrifying, and my son was very, very upset. Fortunately he wasn't hurt and I was able to get it out quickly. So, I recommend buy the instrument, ditch the mallet. Instead we use a wooden rod from one of our Plan toys, and that works just fine.

We got this for our 14-month-old son at Christmas and he loves it! As a music teacher, I love that it is correctly pitched and shows the note names on each key, unlike most toy xylophones. It is a little bit difficult for toddlers to hit just one note at a time because of the baby-safe shape of the mallet, but let's face it--they just like to make noise! I enjoy playing little songs on it for him and think it will be a great teaching toy as he gets older.

This is a great way to introduce your little one to music. It's brightly colored keys are marked with the corresponding scale and are perfectly pitched. I LOVE that it's not made in China and with rounded edges and a light-weight mallet, I think it's quite suitable for my 11 month old, who loves it!
