The foam is nice and thick and is very durable. It beats an area rug for my baby to play on as it is very forgiving when he falls and also cleans up in a snap when he drools and spits up on it. I also like taking naps on it with my child :)

I ordered this mat for my 6 month old, and when it arrived, I saw that it was recommended for children 3+ because the small parts could be a choking hazard. It shouldn't be listed in the baby/infant section. We still use it and love it, but we supervise our son VERY carefully. We will have to find an alternative once he develops more dexterity, so he can play on his own, safely.
