My baby is growing picky and currently hates anything that lacks fruit, so this is one of the many wasteful experiments with chunky that didn't work (the carrots in here are BIG cubes!). It tasted perfectly fine to me but no matter if I mushed it in with carrots (typically works a few bites), she still spit it back out. Part of that is her pickiness but also (and I keep having this issue and I know I need to read ingredients and be responsible but) COME ON why is there split pea in this?! My husband has a lethal nut/legume allergy (which is so common these days!) and our baby is predisposed so I am not supposed to feed her legumes - I have tried anyway and anything with peas or lentils gets spit back at me immediately. When I see "chicken and stars" I don't want to have to assume that if my husband tastes her food, we need to grab an epi pen! I get it when it's in the name, or has pictures of peas on the front, but I'm so bummed that so much baby food has legumes in it - there are peas, lentils or beans in pretty much every organic brand's stage 3's! I know, great protein, good mushiness...and again, I realize I need to carefully read labels, and I do, but we don't have this issue with adult food (legumes rarely sneak into things where one wouldn't expect and we eat out constantly and never have any issues in restaurants) so it's just frustrating that we need to spend the extra effort double-checking everything that you wouldn't think would need legumes. PLEASE Earth's Best, PLEASE make more stage 3's without legumes!
