        Comments about Retractable Gate:

I bought this product mainly because it could be out of the way when not in use.
The purpose was to prevent my little 9 month daughter to have access to the stairs (top part). I am so nervous since we installed it, and I am thinking about replacing it with a regular gate, the fabric used can strech even when you lock very well, and I can see very easily my little one body being able to go under it and face down the stairs, so scary ! the good thing about it is that it doesn't look as attractive (so far !) to my daughter as the other gates do, she spent the whole time hitting them, but she did not figure out yet that this one was also one of the bounderies that she can explore..but I wont let that happen, I have a pain in the stomach just thinking about it. To finish, 2 other cons, difficult to open, always spent 5-10 minute to release the botton, you have to be patient and definitly not in hurry, or if long legs then just go through it ! 2. this gate is very noisy, use it for kitchen , living room and far from bed rooms.

Gate works exactly as expected and was even able to install it an an angled opening at the top of our stairs. My husband installed it in 15 minutes, which was much less than the 2 hours it took him to install our wooden baby gates!

this gate is hard to use, you have to use two hands to open and close it. Guests can never do it, so we dont even use it when we really need to. Plus, my two year old can wiggle her way underneath it, and it comes off its mount easily.

            Comments about Retractable Gate:

I bought this gate because we needed something to keep the baby from going down the stairs, but we also needed something that would prevent our little dog from going down there as well. He likes to sneak down there and get into trouble and he's small enough to sneak through most of the bars in other well constructed gates. Tension fitting gates were not an option of us.

This gate works great for us. My only con is that it requires 2 hands to open, so I have to put the baby down to open it, which isn't that much of a hassle, except if she were to be sleeping.

I especially liked that this gate came with enough hardware so that I could put it in 2 places. I use it at the top of the stairs and the opening to the kitchen. Very handy to be able to move and easy enough to do as well.

The directions for installation are not very clear, but once you get it set up the gate works well. It's very sturdy and unlike a lot of the metal and plastic gates, there is no way my son can climb over this one.

                Comments about Retractable Gate:

This gate was relatively easy to install on our stairway and thus far has been great. We knew it required two hands to open and close prior to purchasing it but thought that might benefit us because our daughter figures out how to operate things very quickly. She knows what she needs to do, but isn't strong enough to get the gate open herself, so for us, it's perfect!

                  Comments about Retractable Gate:

This is AMAZING! It is great for toddlers. My daughter in a matter of days could master our previous Summer's Infant gate. You absolutely get what you pay for regarding gates. This one is wonderful. I love being able to let my daughter run around upstairs but I know that she can't open the gate and go down stairs. Also, other people mentioned a clicking noise. If you read the manual and properly open and close it, there is NO issue. It does take some time getting used to. If you don't push and turn it properly it is a bit a of a struggle.

                      Comments about Retractable Gate:

We installed this gate on our deck to keep my 12 month old from falling down the 4 steps. First, we realized how much of a pain it is to open and close. It took us 2 hands and at least 30 seconds each time. You have to press a button, turn, then pull the gate and hook it on in two places on the other side.

Within 24 hours our 90 pound dog learned to squeeze his way through at the bottom. Because the fabric is somewhat stretchy, he was able to lift it a few inches and crawl through.

Then last night, after a week of having this gate, my 12 month old learned how to open it!!! It was closed properly, but she just pulled on it very methodically, in the right places, and she was quicker to open it than we are! I would say she opened it in 5 seconds total. We have a number of other Dream Baby gates in the house. They don't retract, but they work and they are cheaper.

Its a great gate, easy to install.. and completely out of the way when not in use. The only complaint I have about this gate is that when it is opened it ratchets, LOUDLY.. and at the end of the day with the baby in bed, well we step over it on the steps rather than open it up and waking him.

                          Comments about Retractable Gate:

We have two, very steep staircases w/ not much "maneuvering room" at the top. Previously, we had a gate that mounted into the wall, with a door that swung open in the middle of the gate. Our old gate was such a hazard b/c there was a metal bar UNDER the swinging door part of the gate! So, try carrying a baby and not tripping over that bar. Plus, the old gate made it tough for "bigger" adults pass through. This Dreambaby gate was the perfect solution!! It's well-constructed, it scrolls all the way back when it's opened up (with nothing to trip on)! There's no way my little one could get her arms or legs stuck b/c there are no slats -- like our old gate. And believe me, this gate is sturdy!!!! Thank you Dreambaby and thank you Diapers.com [...]

I enjoy the fact that you get 2 mounting units per gate. However, the instructions were horrible, but its pretty clear what steps you take to set it up. I also really like the fact that they are out of the way if not in use!
