This gate was fairly easy to set up, and quite comfortable to use, even one-handed. It seems like it would be pretty tricky for a toddler to open, though my daughter is nowhere old enough to try yet. It seems like it wouldn't hold up great if a larger toddler put a lot of weight on it, but my 25 pounder can hang on it with no problem, it just wiggles a little. For now I completely trust it at the top of my rather steep staircase.

We bought this gate to keep our 2 dogs out of the baby's nursery. It is sturdy, ease to open, automatically closes behind us, and opens both ways - perfect for what we needed. The design is also attractive. I appreciate that this gate doesn't have a bulky handle or look cheap.

We already own the North States and not even sure why we tried another, but the North States is way better. For one thing, you really have to "figure out" how to open the NS (in fact when we first installed it I got locked in the kitchen because I couldn't figure out how to open it). This gate has a button right on top and our twins were instantly drawn to it, and we could tell it wouldn't be long before they figured out how to open it. It also doesn't have a swing open and stay open feature, which we like on our other (for when it is adult time and kids are sleeping). We are returning and have already ordered a second North States. I am not sure why all the great reviews, we're not that impressed.

This has been the best baby-proofing investment I made. I was constantly having to chase after my one year old twins who could not stay out of the kitchen! This shipped super fast and completely eliminated the problem. We have been using it for over 6 months and they have yet to master it, but it's easy for adults to open. Could not be more pleased. This is well worth every penny!

We use this gate to seperate the hallway and bedrooms from the front of the house. My son can't open the gate on his own but it's very easy for us! Opens both ways!

After having returned a competitor's gate from another store because it was so flimsy, I was impressed that the Dreambaby gate was sturdier and easier to use - at $30 less! We installed it at the top of our 2nd floor stairs and it's stable on the banisters (with the adapters). It gets tons of use and we were happy enough with it that we bought a second one for our basement stairs as well. No complaints!

I read a review that ALMOST stopped me from purchasing and I am glad it didn't. This gate ABSOLUTELY WORKS WITH BASE MOLDINGS. Whoever wrote the review must not have tried to install this gate at all. The instructions are easy to understand and follow, but incase that isn't easy enough for you the gate comes with an instructional DVD. I installed this gate in under 10 minutes by following the written instructions which I am not even entirely sure I even needed. Installation is easy and uncomplicated. Once installed the gate is sturdy even with base moldings and is attractive in appearance. I compared prices with another very popular discount website and the price was the same at diapers.com [...] I couldn't go wrong. Keep in mind to open this gate you need to press the button and lift. Lifting is very easy unlike the old school swing gates we used 10 years ago. Overall I am very satisfied!

Purchased a cheaper model that was a nightmare - so i splurged, spent a bit more and am so impressed - it was worth the extra money. I'm buying another for different area of the house that I have a temporary tension gate in now. I love the swinging gate - you can open it with one hand while holding baby - and it shuts and latches on its own behind you.

We use this at the top of our stairs, and LOVE it. Now, our daughter can crawl from room to room, right past the stairwell, and I don't have to worry. I even watched her pull up and stand while holding onto it, looking down the stairs, and I felt like she was perfectly safe. I love that it automatically swings closed, though if we're downstairs, sometimes we'll crack it open so it's easier to open when we come up toting a child, her toys, a cell phone, a boppy, and the weight of the free world. It's been great - we love how the white blends in with our decor. The only thing is that I didn't realize it has to be bolted to the wall. I actually prefer this, but I didn't think it was clear in the product info.

This is seriously a wonderful gate if you want something that will remain in a doorway without constantly having to take it down and put it back up. We have this gate at the door to my daughter's bedroom so she can play without us worrying about her going to the stairs right outside her bedroom door, and we have one going into the kitchen so when I'm cooking I don't have to fear her coming up behind me and getting hurt. It was VERY easy to install and we haven't had any trouble at all in the 1 year+ that they've been up. She leans on it sometimes and it doesn't even budge.

Purchased this gate for in-laws house after 2 installed in our house to keep boy out of master bath & kitchen. Auto close works, but one of units stops latching when swings closed -I will have to remove and try to readjust.

It looks nice and is sturdy. The directions are horrible, so plan on figuring out how to install it on your own. The self close is useful sometimes, but if you have your hands full and need to get through the gate, it's annoying, and I have found that situation to be very frequent. If I were to get a new gate, I would not get a self close one.

Older kids are able to figure out pretty quickly how to open the gate.
But this is a great gate for my 8 month old. We installed it on the stairway and even here it is really sturdy, easy to install and for me easy and fast to open. Like this gate a lot!

I used this gate at the top of my stairs. It was easy to install and looks nice. I like how it operates as well (although my husband finds it difficult since he has large hands). My toddler went right to it - pushed on it, shook it, looked befuddled, and moved on to the next thing to destroy or knock down. Success!

I recommend this product. It's a quality gate that me -- a busy mom -- can install at a fair price.

I think it could be improved by having some text next to the latch that says to push the clicker closed to lock it so it's obvious for guests -- but nothing my label maker can't handle.
