It was impossible for my 5-6 month old to get liquid out of this sippy cup. She is bf, on a side note, maybe that makes a difference? I gave it two stars because its possible it just didnt work for us, but I purchased others in its place. I love DR browns bottles though.

I wanted to share my story with others who have a baby that refuses a bottle. My son is now 6 months and basically has been refusing to take a bottle since about 6 weeks. For awhile, I kind of gave up. I tried all types of bottles including Medela, Dr. Brown's, Avent, Breastflow to no avail. Finally I saw a couple comments on the internet about this sippy cup and gave it a try. WOW! My son is finally taking something other than me! I think he likes the fast flow of the cup and got very frustrated with the bottle. I try to feed him in a dark quiet place so he can be calm. He does need to take a break often and needs more burping with this cup. I'm so happy I found it.

Do not buy this cup if you actually want your child to learn how to drink out of a cup. My daughter never seemed to get much if any liquid out (we've been mostly using it for water). So, I tried it myself and the amount of force that was needed to get a very slight amount of liquid out was hard for me as an adult. No wonder my daughter only used it as a sort of teething ring. Get the Nuk brand instead.

I love this cup for my 2 year old - she has been drinking out of these for about a year now and they never fail. I have tried other cups and they either leak, are difficult to use or she just plain doesn't like them. I see that they are now including instructions for use in the packaging, which is good, because when I initially bought my first one they did not and I had a very silly little issue - I couldn't figure out how to get them to work! LOL. I would fill it and nothing would come out - only after a few trials and errors did I realize that you have to make sure the little "bubble" that fits into the whole on the plastic disc inside the cup needs to be pushed completely through the hole. Besides that, I feel they are easy to clean (you have to be sure to separate the plastic disc from the soft spout piece and clean well inside the bubble though) and easy to use. My daughter is a "shaker" - she like to "paint" with her drinks, holding cups upside down and shaking the contents out and then finger painting with whatever comes out...but this cup has put an end to that! Love these....great price too!

I couldnt get my baby to breastfeed, I turned to DrB's bottles (told by everyone to use them!) I wanted to get her pacifiers not just the one from the hospital.. turned to DB's again. NO FAIL!Seeing as everyone swore on NUBY's for sippy cups I have 4 different types and a few NUKS. NONE worked... So I tried DB's again for the sippy and it worked like a charm! As it is a 6+month cup it may not come out with force (liquid) but my little girl seems to like the flow of it. There is also one that is for older babies I saw at [@]. I haven't tried that one yet but this one was great it has a gummy tip which was great for teething!

We love this cup. Trying to get away from the bottle, tried a few other sippy cups. Definitely need a soft spout at the beginning and during teething. However I'm not fond of having to change clothes constantly while trying to deal with a silicone spouted sippy cup. It's a mess, and you end up with liquid everywhere, because they are babies and they will bite or pinch the nipple with their fingers. This cup doesn't leak one single drop of anything! It's perfect. Like all cups with valves though, I do try them. If I have a hard time drinking from a cup (and I haven't been nursing or bottle feeding with daily practice like a baby), I know it will be virtually impossible for them. But this was quite easy. And so it was easy for my baby also. He loves it because although it's not a silicone spout (with no valve) it's still a very soft nipple/spout to drink and chew on. Plus the flatness of it, trains him more to keep his mouth closed more when drinking (like an older child or adult) rather than keeping it open wide as if drinking from a bottle. All in all, a great product, definitely buying a whole bunch more! =)

Of all the sippy cups we've tried, this is the first one that is TRULY spill proof. My 14 month old loves to shake his cup and bang it upside down against the table and this cup doesn't leak a single drop.
It is easy to clean and assemble, and my son prefers the cups with the soft spout.
I will definitely be buying a few more of these.

13m old daughter doesn't like it at all. The few times I have heard her drink out of the cup she ends up choking on the little bit of water that does actually get into her mouth.

This was given to me by a friend, because her young (8m) baby couldn't use the spout. My girl is 13m and she hasn't had a problem. It is the best sippy out of all (6) cups we own. It is the one that goes everywhere with us. It's constantly being washed so we better get another one! :) Highly recommend.

First time I gave it to my 6m old, it didn't seem to dispense any liquid. I realized I hadn't thoroughly assembled the silicone piece. Typical of Dr. Brown's products there's several parts to assemble (I do love their bottles, though). So I reassembled it and gave it to her again. She still didn't seem to get any water out of it so I tested it myself. I found to get anything, you had to really have your mouth tight around the spout, like a straw. My kid's a barracuda who never had a problem breastfeeding or taking a bottle, so you think this wouldn't be a problem. Still, she doesn't seem to be drinking any water.

HOWEVER, she LOVES to play with this cup and the handles are very easy for her to find and grip. When I take it out, she starts kicking wildly with excitement. It doesn't leak one bit, so no matter what she does with it, there's no mess to clean up or clothes to change. Maybe eventually she'll get some water in her during her adventures with this exciting toy.

I'm going to try out another cup so I can work on getting her some water, but will keep giving her this one. At least it entertains her while I clean up after giving her solid food.

I am pretty happy with this cup. I can't believe how HUGE so many trainer cups are! My BF baby just doesn't need any serving of liquid in 8 ozs and it makes the cup too larger for her to hold and manuever. This cup is more reasonably sized, though I think that a 4-5 oz cup would be the ideal trainer cup size.

This cup has a soft spout, but it is a valved spout unlike Nuby, Nuk and others which leak and make messes when baby clamps down with the gums (or teeth) but isn't drinking. That is a HUGE plus.

Also, my baby who refuses the bottle drank a few oz. of breastmilk from this cup when I was away, which was great.

With help my 6 month old can use this cup. It's a little pricey but this is definitely one of the better trainer type cups I have tried, and this is my second child, so we've been through quite a few sippies!
