Ordered this gate for a kitchen opening that is 47" wide. I chose the gate because it looked well made and the manufacturer claims to avoid materials that could be toxic to babies. I also like the ramps that prevented you from stubbing your toe on the step over portion. It assembled easily, but was a stretch to span 47" inches as the limit is 47 1/2". The gate has a solid construction, (possibly overbuilt). The one drawback is that you need to life the gate to swing it open. If it is not snuggly attached to the opening, then the whole thing is a little wobbly. I did not use the screw-in mounts and that may have helped. I ultimately returned it because of this reason and since it is a high traffic area, I probably need a gate that can be propped open at night.

Pros: Solid construction and quality of materials, especially the hinge. Did not mark walls at all. Ramps are helpful. Great height and size for the money.

Cons: Must lift the heavy gate to swing open. This was difficult for my wife and weakened the overall stability when using all extension and the fully extended pressure mounts.

Overall, I would recommend you try this gate for a low traffic area with the a narrower width opening. (Save the packaging just in case you need to return it!)
