The Best Bassinet For Any Baby!

About Me First Time Parent
Comments about Playtime Jungle Rocking Bassinet:
I loved this bassinet. My sister stole it from me for her new baby girl. However, my son loved it. Not sure what some previous posters are talking about regarding the music box, and now holes for the mattress area? You can do that yourself, if it wasn't drilled. The music player was freaking awesome! Especially the night light! Also, the basket below is very nice for diapers or blankets. It comes with one sheet, like most bassinets, but I did buy two other ones. They fitted the bassinet very well, NO COMPLAINTS!

About Me First Time Parent
Comments about Playtime Jungle Rocking Bassinet:
Wow, I'm shocked to see negative feedback about this bassinet!
Here's my experience:
I purchased this bassinet the minute I saw it because jungle theme was exactly what I wanted and it was JPMA certified. It was "the one" for our little one. I'm not sure what other posters are talking about regarding the music box, and the holes? My bassinet works just fine. I was able to put it together on my own considering a bouncy chair that I previously purchased, I put together backwards and it's now broken!
The music player worked very well for me, and the night light was awesome. The other bassinets that were more traditional looking/more expensive didn't have night lights on them, and if you're a parent like me that constantly checks to see if your child is breathing, asleep, or awake, this night light is a god send! Perhaps the batteries for the other posters weren't the best batteries? Or maybe you didn't actually turn the thing on. I'm not trying to be mean about it, but seriously, maybe the other posters didn't turn it on. Reason being, it does have a volume level, and on/off dial on both sides of the electronic device. When looking at the bassinet from the front, the music dial is on the right with a off choice, music note choice, and + sign for volume. It has a music note to make you aware that's the music part of the bassinet, you're turning it on and the more you turn the dial the louder the music will play. Located on the left side is the vibration level dial, which also has an off choice and then the more you move the dial the faster it vibrates. In addition, located upon the top front there's a button for the night light which is rather very simple, and then there's ADDITIONAL buttons for the vibration and the music (TOTALLY SEPARATE BUTTONS) that you press to play as well, but you must make sure that you have the switch on, rather than off... and both dials on the sides are on. It sounds far more confusing than it actually is. Basically, it gives you these rather nickel sized buttons on the face plate to hit if it's the middle of the night and your little one starts fussing and for a more peaceful night, or to attend to your little one easier.
As far as the holes go for the wood frame part to hold the mattress pad, if they weren't drilled why not just take it to the store where you purchased it and do an even exchange? Most baby stuff is always missing parts, or at least that's what I was told while pregnant, but fortunately I haven't ran into those problems. The rule of thumb is of baby furniture is to never buy it online WITHOUT researching other consumers reviews OR have it shipped to the store that you're purchasing it offline from! That way, you CAN exchange it, and possibly return it with receipt! If yours didn't have the holes you could also drill them yourself, as the wood is merely 1/4" thick, and you can evenly line it up with the metal frame to get an accurate measurement to know where to drill, it's not rocket science. It just seems as though some of the people rating this product didn't have common sense, or just were lazy! There's nothing wrong with this bassinet at all. I do understand manufacturers make mistakes, trust me.. I know. But this bassinet was the easiest thing I've had to put together, and that worked!
The best thing I loved about it was the fact I could rock my baby, WHILE it also vibrated him to sleep. The vibration is in different levels, which I also thought was a major plus. You can take this bassinet from room to room as it has retractable, locking swivel castors. This bassinet definitely made my life easier, I think more easier than my sons :)
The only thing I recommend is to add an extra blanket to the pad. Like a nice plush blanket. Just wrap it around the actual mattress pad and neatly tuck it in so that the mesh sides are still open for airways. It made a huge difference as far as comfort went. Yes, I know a baby isn't supposed to lay on something soft, but if you do it right, just as you would put on the fitted sheet it comes with, and make sure it's evenly spread underneath to avoid any uneven lumps or such, it's still a firm mattress but enhances the feel for your little one.
Well, there you have it. A first time Mothers experience to a bassinet that others rated poorly, when I guess it all depends on who is putting it together, where you purchase it, and common sense! I would recommend this bassinet to anyone who is looking for a great one. My sister basically took mine from me when she just had her daughter two months ago. If you're thinking "I bet she works for Delta" you're certainly wrong! I don't even work in the retail business. I'm actually a lawyer, can't you tell by my opinionated statements? :P
I'm just shocked at how badly rated this bassinet is when in all reality, it's a wonderful bed to a little one! So, all those mommies reading, don't fear these other posters.... Do other research if you would like to. Also, buy it IN STORE, and check the parts before you put it together so you don't run into any problems like the other posters complained they had. I hope the best for all of your babies and that's my experience with this LOVELY bassinet!
