I was so glad to see that the waterproof covering was on and ready to be used the moment I got the mattress. I just had to unwrap it and set it in the crib! At first I was worried that the mattress would be too firm for our newborn, but thanks to some helpful hints online I'm sure this mattress is perfect! Its a lot better than any mattress I looked at when visiting the department stores. I'm not sure how it'll hold up for toddlers, but for my newborn its just right.

Fits PERFECTLY in my DaVinci Charleston crib.

I bought two of this mattress for my twins and opened it right the way to see if it would fit in the crib and to let air for a few months before they arrive. Then I followed some web suggestions on how to test the firmness of crib mattress. As soon as I removed from the bag I could easily press with ONE hand at the corners, and make the sides meet! I also put it down on the floor and put some pressure in the middle, and it sank too much for the amount of pressure I put it on, and it didn't come back to shape. It might work ok for newborn, but I wouldn't use for when babies start to get up and jump in the crib.
