Comments about 5 Ct. Twistables Slick Stix:

I'm an artist and I draw all the time and get great pleasure from it. When I saw my little girl's lack of enthusiasm for the way normal crayons draw, I knew I had to keep searching to find the perfect one. Once I found Crayola Twistables, I searched no more.

As a toddler, her attention span is short and regular crayons were only fun for a short amount of time. The crayons would break because it requires more pressure than her dexterity can muster to really color with them. I figured the Crayola Mini Twistables, which are the same as regular crayons, would be a much better fit since they wouldn't break. But again the regular wax crayon just wasn't responsive enough.

Enter the full size Twistable crayons. They're a softer, smoother texture than regular crayons, so the lines you make are buttery and thick with color. The size of them fits beautifully in a toddler's fist. They're not easy to twist up, so worries of over-twisting and wasting the crayon are assuaged. The smoothness of their use suits the toddler style of scribbling using arm-movement rather than wrist movement. and the thickness of the color applied can be smeared around and experimented with to their hearts content.

As with any art supplies, they can get messy. The soft material can ball up and create debris, and it will rub off of the artwork onto other surfaces if you're not careful. Even so, I think the fun and durability of these completely outweigh those cons.

I highly recommend these.

Comments about 5 Ct. Twistables Slick Stix:

I thought these would be good for my 18 month old who is learning to color because I thought the plastic shell would protect the crayon and keep it from breaking. The "crayon" however is more the consistency of lipstick and easily smooshed by too much downward pressure. The colors also stain very easily - especially the blue even on non-porous surfaces like a high chair tray.

These would be best for older children working on a well-protected surface

I use these with my 4 year old and my 16 month old. They are so rich and pigmented, which is great compared to the super-waxy stuff out there. On the other hand, they do stain...

A LOT of fun. We call them "creamy crayons".

Comments about 5 Ct. Twistables Slick Stix:

These crayons are horrible. They mark on anything that touches them including clothing, body parts and flooring. Not only do they mark - they don't wash out - we stained both the pants and shirt my son was wearing when he used them. We have put them away and likely will never use them again!
