This product is very difficult to clean and we have always had issues with it accumulating mold over a week. The base you can clean with relative ease but the base of the tank gets very intricate and you can't get into all the nooks and crannies in order to eliminate the mold.

Other than that, it's a good humidifier-- quiet, adjustable output and a choice of warm or cool mist. If you live in a drier climate, this might be a good product.

I ordered this Humidifier for my daughters bedroom but will be returning it. First I had to send it back to Crane to get the chiming sound mechanism removed because every time we used our tv remote (not even in the same room) it would make the unit chime! lol NOT good for a sleeping 10 month old! But that was fixable and had to ship it back and received back 2 weeks later. Then I set it all up in her room again and went in the room in the middle of the night when she woke up and omg... the smell was HORRIBLE!!! I've never experienced this with any warm mist humidifier before... I contacted Crane and they said that was normal for a new unit... all I needed to do was clean out the base and water tank with a vinegar solution and that should do the trick. I did that... 3 times and still no luck. I called them back and they advised that was just how it was for the warm mist setting.. and that if I would just run it on the cool mist I would not experience the smell. I'm sorry but I do not want to use the cool mist setting... I bought this because of the warm mist option and I expect there not to be a smell. She told me that it was because I was using in a small room with door shut and I advised her I was actually running it in our living room which is pretty large (we live in a 1200 sq ft apt) and the smell was still there. I ran it for a week in our living room hoping the smell would go away and no! My fiancée and everyone who comes over can not stand the smell... I would not recommend this product. I will be returning and ordering an Aeroswiss (this is what we use for our bedroom and is amazing!). Such a hassle.

Keep looking for a good humidifier. One of the most annoying things about the design is refilling the water. It ALWAYS leaks water everywhere and there there is a poorly designed piece that directs the mist that falls out. In addition, I purchased the filter in order to cut down on mold and build-up, yet somehow the thing is dirtier than the one in my son's room. Also, sometimes I wake up at night and it has turned off (despite low humidity in the room and the tank is full).

Lastly, (and oddly) my remote control for my TV/ cable changes the mist setting (sounds crazy, but it does it consistently). Whenever I go to adjust the volume on the tv, it beeps loudly, next to my baby's crib and changes the mist setting. I do also wonder if this is a contributing factor to it turning off.

There are better humidifiers out there, I would not spend the money on this one again.

This thing puts out a great flow of mist, and keeps going through the night when filled before bed. The controls are no-nonsense: two simple dials, no extra confusion. I like the sleek minimal design—it looks awesome, especially when compared to most other hideous "spaceship" designs. It drips a little water when you take the tank off to fill it up, but this is pretty standard across the board for humidifiers. The only negative I can think of is the hilariously bright blue "power" light. It might as well be a blue flashlight. But I put a little piece of white gaffer's tape over it, and it's 100% fine now.

This is the poorest quality humidifier and I do not recommend purchasing. When plugged in, product emitted a strong plastic smell even after repeated cleaning, and made a loud buzzing sound when in use. The water canister also cut my finger when carrying it full.

We've tried so many humidifiers in my son's room with little success. Many top brands in the market are tough to clean and require cleaning more frequently that we'd like. We've used this in my toddler's room for the past few months and we love it. We do put it on a small stepping stool to keep it off the carpet. We empty it usually every other day. So far, no other cleaning required. We use it with the filter and that seems to be effective.

There is some noise that we hear over his baby monitor but nothing too disturbing. The tank lasts us a good 12 hours on the heat setting and 2 , 12-hour nights on the cool setting. We just ordered a second one for our pre-teen daughter's room.
