      • Chicco Smart Support Backpack - Red

Chicco's SmartSupport Backpack is the smarter way to carry your growing child. The height-adjustable seat supports your child as they grow, while the backpack supports you with its lightweight aluminum frame, generously padded shoulder straps, adjustable belt straps, and energy-absorbing lumbar padding. These extra supports reduce the strain on your back and shoulders and increase airflow keeping you cool and comfortable. The SmartSupport Backpack comes with travel bags for baby and parent necessities and a zip-quick weather shield. It is freestanding, making loading and unloading your child virtually effortless. The SmartSupport Backpack's flat-fold makes it easy to store and transport. All the great features of the SmartSupport Backpack help make your and your baby's outings last longer.

Warning: Never leave your child unattended inside the backpack. Ensure that the backpack is safely opened and locked into position before sitting the child in it.  Use the backpack only when standing or walking. Do not use the backpack when sitting down. Children may suffer from the effects of weather and temperature changes before adults. Do not leave the child inside the backpack, with the legs open, standing on a table or any raised surface. The backpack legs must be used only for short breaks and not as seat. Blood circulation in your child’s legs may be reduced during transport. It is recommended to make frequent breaks. Children may tire very quickly. Ensure that the person using the backpack knows how to use it safely. Do not close or open the backpack with the child sitting inside. When adjusting or closing the backpack, always ensure that the movable parts of the frame do not come into contact with your child. Do not carry more than one child at a time. The use of the safety harness is important for your child’s safety. Always secure your child with the safety harness provided. When the child is inside the backpack, he/she could be taller than the person who is carrying it. Always pay attention to obstacles, located at the height of the child’s head, which could be a hazard (for example, door frames, branches of trees, etc). When using the backpack, pay special attention to the following points: The balance of the person carrying the backpack may be adversely affected due to the movement of the child within it or the movements of the person carrying it. Do not bend or lean forward when carrying the backpack. Do not use the backpack while doing sporting activities. Additional warnings located on owner's manual.

Comments about Smart Support Child Carrier Backpack - Red:

My husband is 6'2 and loves taking our daughter in this. She is 12 month old and throws a fit to go for walks when she sees it. He said it is absolutely easy to use, comfortable, has great storage and a rain shield. We love it!

Comments about Smart Support Child Carrier Backpack - Red:

This was our second backpack and an emergency purchase after a strap broke off our first one (yikes!). Anyway, it was the only one in stock and we were on a road trip so we got it--I would not get it again.

It does have great features my first did not have, like the adjustable seat and five-point harness, and rain shield. The kickstand is also very sturdy, which is nice if your kid is like mine and fusses going in and is then perfectly happy once inside.

However, I find it to be *very* bulky and yet there is next to no storage space. There's a small detachable bag, but it will fit only two diapers and a portable wipes bag, no snacks, sippy cup, etc.

My husband doesn't mind the bulkiness because we use it hiking, but ideally I would like to use it to go to the grocery store or mall but it's just too big for that.

A final positive is that there's lots of space for baby, definitely room to grow. Our first had our daughter so confined that I worried about her getting air flow in the summer months. Not a concern here.

I'm sure this product would work great for someone looking for a hiking pack who plans to bring a second backpack for food, water, etc. I would not personally recommend it for daily use.

I almost gave it 4 stars because it has great features, but rated it 3 because it's so big it just sits in our garage instead of being used frequently due to the bulkiness.
