Britax Pavilion 70-G3 - Plaza (Diapers.com Exclusive)

The Britax Pavilion 70-G3 convertible car seat is designed for children rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds and forward facing from 20 to 70 pounds. The Pavilion 70-G3 achieves revolutionary head safety through the use of Britax SafeCell Technology in the base and HUGS chest pads with SafeCell Technology, integrated steel bars, and energy absorbing Versa-Tether that work together to minimize head excursion and reduce the risk of head injury during a frontal impact. The Pavilion 70-G3 also incorporates Britax True Side Impact Protection, a Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator to aid in proper harness snugness. Additional features include a no-rethread and quick-adjust five-point harness, multiple buckle and recline adjustments, and an easy-remove cover that also allows access to belt paths from the front of the seat. A body pillow is provided for extra comfort and infant positioning.

Features:

  • HUGS Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology are affixed to the seat shell to ensure proper positioning while SafeCells compress to manage energy and provide resistance to the forward movement of your child in a crash
  • EZ-Buckle System retains the harness buckle in a forward position and prevents the child from sitting on the buckle when boarding
  • True Side Impact Protection a head restraint which offers a double layer of EPP foam to distribute crash forces, shield from vehicle intrusion, and contain the head, neck and body
  • Base with SafeCell Technology compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the front seat
  • Integrated Steel Bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash
  • Energy-Absorbing Versa-Tether features a staged-release tether webbing to slow the forward movement, reducing the crash forces reaching the child, and a two-point attachment to minimize forward rotation while anchoring the top of the child seat
  • Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator is an audible aid that provides extra assurance when the harness is within range of appropriate snugness
  • Premium Lower LATCH Connectors for a quick and simple installation featuring a push button for easy release
  • Certified for Aircraft Travel

Comments about Pavilion 70-G3 - Sophia:

We have owned 4 Britax prior to this and loved them all, except the Frontier. Unfortunately, our 2 Roundabouts are getting up there in years and we were going to need to buy 1 more seat for our daughter. I first tried the Recaro Professional Ride. It looks comfy, but I just couldn't love it. It's not as deep, so she was cramped and fussed in it instead of falling right to sleep like she typically does in our Roundabout. I was also not happy with the installation. It needed noodles to make it level, not just one, but 2 and then I couldn't install it tight. That was the clincher on sending it back. My Pavillion arrived today. I didn't think Britax could make installation any easier, but they did. Installation was a breeze, no noodles necessary. My only complaint (ok, I have 2) is that I wish they had a place for storing the manual. My other complaint is the strap release. I like the old button. It was so easy and no digging in the seat to loosen the straps. When it comes to buying car seats, there are lots to choose from, but if you want a good seat, look for companies whose seats have stood the test of time without gimmicks. The Britax seats have changed very little in structure over the years. They got it right. In short, if you are looking for a convertible seat, you can't go wrong with a Britax. I don't know why I ever bothered with another brand.

I got this seat for my six month old who is a little big for his age. We love it! He is comfortable and safe. I was afraid that it wouldn't fit in our small SUV, but it fits just fine with no extra adjustments. I feel better knowing that he has side impact protection. My LO goes right to sleep when I put him in this seat. No fussing like before in his carrier.

Comments about Pavilion 70-G3 - Sophia:

With a little research it is easy to see that Britax is superior in safety but what I wasn't expecting was the comfort and ease of use. My husband installed in less than 10 minutes including tethers and anchors and it took me less than five to fit the seat to my daughter. Do not listen to reviews about about difficult harnesses as if you read the directions it is a breeze. I have never been able to get my daughter into a carseat as quickly as I can with this Britax. I sit her down, put her arms in the harness, snap the harness, snap the buckles, and pull the strap until I hear a click! We are done. She is comfortable and I have the reassurance she is in the safest carseat available. On a less important note this carseat is also super stylish! Put this in your cart now and stop your search!

We switched my son to this seat at 11 months when he hit 22 pounds because it was getting hard to carry his infant seat around! I dont know which one of us love it more. He doesn't make a peep while he's in this seat vs. the yelling after about 20 min in his old one.. It was very easy to install (we used the latch system) and it fits great rear facing! We are about to order a second one for my husbands car. Totally worth the money, and the peace of mind knowing your child is very well protected!

Comments about Pavilion 70-G3 - Plaza:

Was so excited to receive our new car seat. We have many friends who have Britax and love their seats, so I ordered one for my infant. Previously, we used a Chicco Keyfit 30 and this is my 3rd child so I'm very familiar with carseats. With that said, I was VERY frustrated when I first started playing around with the Britax Pavilion. I would put my 6 month old in it and could barely loosen the straps to get her arms in. I was pulling up the metal lever and pulling the belts out away from the chest, but it would only loosen a tad bit. Then after looking online, I saw others had this same problem. I thought, this is "Britax" how could this be? And for the price and the decent reviews, I must be doing something wrong. Well, I WAS!

FIX: Hold the metal lever with one hand and pull up. Then (Listen carefully..this is where I made a mistake) with the other hand, pulled the chest piece buckle out away from the infant's chest. Do NOT tug on the chest straps themselves like you can with other seats ie, Graco Nautilus, Chicco Keyfits. It won't work bc of the newer technology on the G3 seats, which added the nicer chest straps. PULL ONLY ON THE CHEST BUCKLE and it will work.

I was so darn frustrated I was ready to send it back! Thank goodness I figured it out. The above is why I did not rate w/ 5 stars because it was hard. Also, I can not depend on my family members to correctly use this seat if I am not around to show them how to do it.

Otherwise, the safety ratings are great. The material is durable and nice quality.

Comments about Pavilion 70-G3 - Plaza:

I researched convertible car seats for our daughter for months before finally deciding upon the Britax Pavilion. I switched her to this seat at 6 months old, 20 lbs, for comfort, and because she despised the infant seat! I chose the Pavilion over the Advocate because I did not want the bulky sides that the Advocate has.

Installation: If you take time to read the instruction manual (and watch the Britax installation videos online), this car seat is simple to install. There are multiple ways to install it, but we used the latch method, and the seat barely moves, and it is safely installed.

Cons: I cannot get the straps to loosen well enough to get my baby out with ease. Yes, there is the little lever you flip up, and you can pull the straps, but they only go so loose (in comparison to the infant seat) still making it difficult to get her arms out.

I also think convertible seats are going to be a challenge to put baby in and out unless you have a van or possibly an SUV. We have a roomy Toyota Avalon and I have to angle my daughter sideways to put her into the seat, to ensure we don't hit her head on the car. Are all cars this way? This is my biggest con about the seat. I'm sure once we turn the seat around it will be easier, but we have 1.5 years before we will do that.

Overall, we are happy with the seat, and my daughter (most importantly) doesn't hate riding in the car as much as she used to. We feel that she is safe, and that this seat is with the money to purchase!

Comments about Pavilion 70-G3 - Biscotti:

The seat is amazing - my husband calls it the "cadillac." We both wonder why we can't ride in something that comfortable! The seat was easy to install. We were worried about the large size of the seat fitting in our small four-door sedan. It fits fine, a little tight, but fine, even behind the driver/passenger seats.
