Britax Boulevard 70-G3 - Onyx

The Britax Boulevard 70-G3 convertible car seat is designed for children rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds and forward facing from 20 to 70 pounds. The Boulevard 70-G3 achieves revolutionary head safety through the use of Britax SafeCell Technology in the base and HUGS chest pads with SafeCell Technology, integrated steel bars, and energy absorbing Versa-Tether that work together to minimize head excursion and reduce the risk of head injury during a frontal impact. The Boulevard 70-G3 also incorporates Britax True Side Impact Protection and offers a no-rethread and quick-adjust five-point harness, multiple buckle and recline adjustments, and an easy-remove cover that also allows access to belt paths from the front of the seat. A body pillow is provided for extra comfort and infant positioning.

Features:

  • HUGS Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology are affixed to the seat shell to ensure proper positioning while SafeCells compress to manage energy and provide resistance to the forward movement of your child in a crash, reducing the risk of head injury
  • EZ-Buckle System retains the harness buckle in a forward position and prevents the child from sitting on the buckle when boarding
  • True Side Impact Protection is deep side walls with energy-absorbing EPP foam along with a head restraint which offers a double layer of EPP foam to distribute crash forces, shield from vehicle intrusion, and contain the head, neck and body while keeping them "in true" or aligned
  • Base with SafeCell Technology features SafeCells designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the front seat
  • Integrated Steel Bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash
  • Energy-Absorbing Versa-Tether features a staged-release tether webbing to slow the forward movement, reducing the crash forces reaching the child, and a two-point attachment to minimize forward rotation while anchoring the top of the child seat
  • Premium Lower LATCH Connectors for a quick and simple installation featuring a push button for easy release
  • Certified for Aircraft Travel

      Not for chunky babies

Comments about Boulevard 70-G3 - Silver Birch:

I have one of these for my second child (who has typically been small for her age but is now feeling the pinch at age three in this seat due to the short harness straps and a serious growth spurt). When my third came along, I bought another for him when he grew out of his infant seat. I regret this. The harness straps are extended to the max and it still pinches into his thighs at 17 months. He is the same size as my three year old. It has been tight on him for almost two months now and I am just now finding out that Britax knowns about this issue and will send you a harness extender. Not sure if it is for this particular model (which I would send back in a heartbeat if I could get a full refund). I had a certified car seat installer argue with me that I must be doing something wrong so I invited her to come check out both my kid and the car seat...she was like, "ooh I see what you mean" and offered to help me find something else. It's a shame because I really liked the safety features and reviews.

Comments about Boulevard 70-G3 - Silver Birch:

I love this carseat. The only down side is that it is supposed to click when tight, but I've found it clicks before it is tight, so use common sense here and keep tightening until it fits properly. Of all of the seats we have purchased for each of our cars, and grandparent's cars, this has been the easiest and fastest to install. I'm actually coming back a year later to purchase one for my mom's car because the Graco My Ride 65 we have for my mom's car is impossible to install, difficult to tighten the straps, and frequently loosens by the time you reach your destination. I would highly recommend this seat. One of the best features is the eas of adjustng the height of the shoulder straps that just requires raising the portion in the back while the seat is installed. There is no need to remove the seat or undo the straps in any way.

It looks great, is super safe (supposedly) but I think I was just to accustomed to the ease of my previous convertible car seat, the Evenflo Symphony. I had a difficult time getting tight enough to my car seats (a grand caravan), and the flat part on the chest straps was constantly scrapping(but not leaving a mark) on my rear facing 1 year old, everytime I put him in or out. I'm going to return and get a matching convertible seat to his older brothers (forwardfacing 2.5 year old)

Comments about Boulevard 70-G3 - Caitlin:

Just received car seat yesterday. It's much prettier than the picture. I saw on the reviews that the straps aren't adjustable or they are hard. That wasn't the case at all. I measured my daughter for the car seat before installing it. If you have own a Britax before it's adjusts the same way and installs the same way. The car seat is very cushioned and seems very safe and comfortable for my child. Fits great in a Chevy Impala rear facing.
