We spend tons of time in the outdoors. We first used this on a trip to the So. Pacific on a recommendation of friends (fair skinned red head) who travel there regularly. It offers amazing skin protection and is chemical free. No babies in our household but this was our friends recommendation and we LOVE the product. Now it is the only sunscreen I will use.

My daughter is allergic to chemical sunscreens so I started trying a bunch of non chemical ones. This is by far my favorite. It rubs in nicely (most other ones were hard to rub on) and doesn't leave much of a white hue.

I found this to be the most reasonably priced of the non-chemical sunscreens -- and by non-chemical, I don't mean that there are zero chemicals in the sunscreen, but rather that the sunscreen does not use a chemical sunblock -- it uses only physical blockers like micro-zinc.

California Baby gets better ratings for being more totally chemical-free & non-toxic, but it's also way more expensive. To me, since the long-term negative effect of using chemicals in these doses is far from definitely proven, I decided that Blue Lizard Baby is the best compromise between price and trying to avoid potentially toxic chemicals.

Also, importantly, this works GREAT as a sunblock -- my kids have never been burned using it. Even when I sometimes cheat and only apply once in the morning (though obviously with lots of swimming, reapplication is better). It really stays on and prevents sunburns/tanning.

I asked my dermatologist for a recommendation for a sunscreen for my 11 month old son, and she raved about Blue Lizard. It goes on thick and white and then blends in. It provides a barrier to the sun, and water - my son was in the pool for 2 days this weekend and the water beaded up on his skin. I only applied once but kept him in the shade when he was not in the pool and he did not get any sunburn at all either day. I used some on myself as well and it did the job.

This sunscreen is NOT chemical free. I bought this product because it claimed to be chemical free. When I received it, I checked the ingredients and found that it was full of parabens. I am sticking with California Baby.

I love this sunscreen! My son is very fair and I've struggled to find a good natural sunscreen that works. And this does! I will not use anything else. It goes on easily, does not smell, and does the job well. But like any other, you should reapply after swimming, sweating, etc.

I really like this sunscreen, I just forgot to re-apply the first time we used it, and my son is very pale so he burned. I would recommend re-applying every hour of swimming.
