This mattress cover is exactly as it's described by the manufacturer. It's soft, breathable, lightweight, and made with organic cotton. Unlike a typical plastic mattress cover, it has soft cotton on one side, so you could use it with or without a fitted crib sheet. It fits our mattress with a crib sheet just fine.

I ordered this because I wanted to protect my daughter's new mattress from any accidents. When I opened the package I held it up to my mouth and nose to see if I could breathe through it. Nope. Not at all. Now, most likely that is fine, but my mom spidey sense was tingling and I felt really uncomfortable about using the sheet on her bed. I mean, if I can't breathe through it, I don't want it near her face.
