I mostly have used pocket diapers, but have a handful of prefolds in my stash. I always had used cotton prefolds before and wasn't a big fan because while they did the job, they puff up after washing and end up so bulky. Since I typically just fold in thirds and stick it in a cover, this makes for a HUGE diaper.
The BabyKicks prefolds fold into thirds perfectly, and they stay nice and flat. I love it because it fits so much better in the covers. The medium prefold fits perfectly in my Bummis Medium cover and my Thirsties size 2 cover. I also have a small prefold, and this is the perfect size to stuff in a BabyKicks pocket or fitted diaper.

I can't say enough about how much I love these prefolds. I definitely find myself reaching for the prefolds more often and I plan to get more! They are more expensive than the cotton prefolds, but well worth it.

I love these! They just keep getting better with each wash. I boiled them first for about 30 min then did a couple hot washes and drys for the initial prep. Compared to cotton prefolds, they absorb much more and do not feel as wet against the skin. I will sometimes pair them with a single hemp insert and that does the job for hours.
As far as fastening them, I haven't tried pins, but snappis will work just fine if you kind of wiggle them while pushing into the fabric. They don't grip quite as well as they do on cotton, but they will work. I always pair these with a Thirsties Duo wrap and I've never had a leak.

These are very warm and absorbent (not for summer!) but, they are so thick you can't use regular clothes pins. The nifty plastic tie thing in the rollover image IS NOT INCLUDED.
