This book was instrumental in helping me through my pregnancy from positive pregnancy test to birth. Just knowing other mothers had dealt with exactly the same concerns physically, emotionally, and mentally made a big difference in feeling empowered throughout my first pregnancy. And the factual/medical information helped settle my nerves as a first time mom :) I give this book to all my friends with first babies on the way! Indispensible!!

I felt a little guilty about getting this book at first instead of the traditional go-to, "what to expect" but i am SO glad i did. besides the much more contemporary design of this book, the information is divided up and organized in such an easy to follow way. much better than that other book ;)i also loved the pictures of the growing mommy.

This book is so easy to understand and I can't think of a topic it doesn't cover! The authors have done a wonderful job using real women's testimony for each viewpoint on everything from birth attendants to birthing choices, fear of needles to pregnant vegetarians. Because of this, they come off as completely unbiased. There are pros and cons discussed for each position on each topic, and quotes from women who have been there back up the message. While reading, I found myself gravitating to the "babycenter buzz" boxes because I could really relate to the quotes! My personal favorite: "I wasn't that 'I could really use a carrot..' kind of hungry, I was the 'get out of my way and show me some REAL food' hungry!" lol! Also, a small point, the first thing I said when I got my book was "it's a great size!" It seems very compact compared to most floppy pregnancy books out there and I appreciate that. It fits into my big ol' mom purse easily. ;) I personally love the pictures of the beautiful woman at each stage of pregnancy. She is a wonderful example of an average woman's shape, and gives good basic reference for first time moms-to-be on how their body will be changing at each stage. Most of all, I like this feature because it shows the beauty of the female form in a tasteful and unashamed manner, from conception to full bloom. The combination of facts from the "experts" and input from the other experts (the mamas) makes this book a valuable resource for women who are pregnant for the first time, or mothers of many. I think it will appeal to mothers of all ages. I wish I had this book during my first pregnancy, I would have been so well informed! Thank you for this wonderful book!

Whether this is your 1st pregnancy or your 5th, this book is a wonderful real-life resource. It's full of REAL advice and real comments from moms who are going through exactly what you will be. The illustrations are simply artistic and amazingly detailed, and the photographs showing each week of pregnancy give a wonderful starting point for comparison. I love the reassuring nature, and wish I'd had this in my 1st 3 pregnancies. I also love the fact that this book takes Dad's role seriously and makes it a point to include Dad in every step, including some comments from real fathers. Thank you BabyCenter.com!

It's a great book and it's very informative and down to earth! I highly recommend it to everyone. It's probably one of the best around! My only complaint is that there are topless ladies displaying how a pregnant woman looks at various stages. I coloured that in, but I really wasn't thrilled.

This book is chock-full of info. It exceeded my expectations for a book about pregnancy and birth. It is bursting with resources for expectant parents and is easy and fun to read. The price is extremely reasonable for a book of its calliber. I'll just say that it surpasses the information provided by some of the more popular pregnancy guide and manages not to be preachy or condescending like some books that I won't mention!!!

This book should be required for pregnant moms (and dads)to read. It answers very personal questions in honest ways. Knowing that advice came from real moms makes this the best book around. There are tips and experiences to relate to. The pictures of each stage are also the best I've seen. Not an illustration, a REAL pregnant woman going through the changes. I am going to buy this for each friend I know who is pregnant. Thanks for an outstanding, informative book.

My cousin is 21 and she was SOOO0 scared of being pregnant with her first baby, I bought her this and she read it 6 times in 2 months-she even took notes! She has 6 more months to go before the baby and she said "I'm going to recommend this to everyone! It's to the point and easy to understand." I might just buy myself one! :o)

This is a great pregnancy and birth guide book. I have read several that are out there and could have skipped most of them if I'd just read this one. I like the way it's organized into months with realistic information to carry you through your pregnancy, delivery, and beyond.
