They do leak but never when she is drinking from them. they leak when she drops them or leaves them on the floor if it is resting with some sort of pressure on the nipple pushing the nipple in. The are still my babies favorite (there are some she refuses to use) and I'm just glad to have one that doesn't leak while she is drinking.

I have tried numerous bottles, my 3rd child is a spitter. So these are comparable to the gas he gets from quite a few other bottles, Dr. Brown's, Born Free, Platex Nursers... I like the wider mouth nipple, it helps him get a good seal, reducing the amount of air he sucks in... which helps with his gas and spit up. [*] I looked all over to find bottles that were made elsewhere. They are made in England. So BPA free plastic - easy to wash - easy to assemble - [*]. Perfect.

I have tried 3 different bottle brands. My BF'ed daughter prefers Avent. She is now completely bottle-fed and we only use this system.

PROS: easy assembly, easy cleaning (not too many parts), nipple has never collapsed, the nipple shape is nice for BF babies, level 2 nipple flow is good without it being too fast, works compatibly with the Avent Breast Pumps, bottle can be used as sippy cup with Avent sippy cup attachments.

CONS: it leaks. It doesn't leak all the time and only seems to happen when I shake the bottle too much and a bit of formula gets under the cap. When this happens, I just unscrew/rescrew the cap back on and it will fix the problem. You also shouldn't over-tighten the caps as this will also cause leakage.

For my second baby, I didn't think twice about buying new Avent bottles. I totally agree with the other reviewer - the orignial bottles work well and the new design with the additional part is an extra complication that's not needed - epecially trying to quickly put a bottle together with a crying baby in arm. Plus one more part to wash and keep track of. Really don't like the new ones and will keep using the old design as long as I can.

I love these bottles. They're simple to use and clean, without too many extra parts. As for the leaks other reviewers have mentioned, I experienced them until I learned two simple "tricks." First, make sure all of your parts are completely dry. Second, when you are screwing the nipple on, slowly turn it counterclockwise first, until you feel it softly click into place. Then screw on as usual.

Words cannot express how much I hate these bottles. Unfortunately when I had my son (now 3) I registered for a ton of these bottles and they have been trouble from day 1. They have leaked whether the top is on tight or loose, wet or dry...it doesn't matter. They have emptied-out in my diaper bag, leaving me without food for my babies. They have caused me to change their clothes in the middle of the night, leaving me with a crying, fully-awake baby. I've called customer service 2X and this is what they told me....what a JOKE:

The nipple must be wet (such BS)

You cannot use antibacterial dish soap to wash them or it breaks down the silicon (seriously, don't we bake things at 375 in silicon?)

You cannot mix the formula in the bottle...so you have to mix it OUTSIDE the bottle and then pour it back...That's really convenient!

AND...You must replace the nipples every 3 MONTHS!

So...if that sounds like something you want to deal with, then go for it. I have never had something so small cause so many problems. The couple of Born Free bottles that I have don't leak EVER. The Playtex bottles don't leak EVER.

Hope this review helps and stops people from buying these bottles in bulk!

I personally love these bottles. With or without the new rings to prevent leaking, I have never had a leaking problem. you just have to know not to screw the tops on too tight. It's not rocket science. Another review complained about the new ring. Avent is trying to please their customers. The new ring is to help people keep from over tightening the tops. It really takes just a second to put it on. It's not like there is some time consuming extra step. I love that there are no liners to deal with. I used Playtex with my oldest and also with this baby. I love those bottles, but am tired of the liners. The Gerber Nuk bottles were great too, but I noticed when other people fed her, they put the bottle in upside down. This kept it from venting. Avent is our solution. They are gender neutral and can be used with the next baby with no hesitation if we happen to have a boy. I love these bottles!!!

I happily own other Avent bottles and other Avent products so i didn;t hesistate to order extra bottles. To my surprise design had changed: now there is an extra protection layer that needs to be put on a bottle first and then you screw the nipple on a lid. Common , when you are attending little one there is NO time for extra item in bottle assembly. Also if it's not put tight and screw right - it will leak. I believe in old design of Avent bottle - the simpler it is the better!
