construction book
By 2 boys under 2Site Member from Missouri on 10/29/2008

My son loves big trucks and construction equipment which is why I bought this book. He loves the book. I just wish it would name the machines instead of just what they do.

Our Favorite Book!!!!!
By Mother of 2Site Member from NYC on 11/1/2006

We bought this book for my son when he was 3 months old, and he continued to love it through 2 years+ (my husband and I had it memorized we read it so much!). Byron Barton's illustrations are WONDERFUL - bold, colorful, and very attractive for babies and toddlers. I highly recommend ALL his books.

My 14 month old son loves ...
By New mom in trainingSite Member from Maryland on 11/1/2006

My 14 month old son loves construction equipment and already had several books with photos of construction equipment. I was worried this book might not be as interesting. I was pleasantly surprised when he wanted me to read it to him as many as 4 times a day. No other book has caught his attention as this one has.

FABULOUSE
By AnonymousSite Member from seattle on 11/1/2006

both our son and daughter have absolutely loved this book. byron barton does magic with this book. may look less interesting to parents at first, but kids just love this book and read it over and over again. a MUST for any little girl or boy's library.

hmmm, not sure about the message...
By Ashton's proud MamaSite Member from Plano, TX on 11/1/2006

We haven't actually read this to our son yet because he is only 2 months old, so he may love it... who knows. When we recieved it as a gift, of course my husband and I read it. I was expecting a happy and "magical" children's book, and this book was very boring and harshly realistic!! Basically the gist of it is that the construction workers all go to work, work hard until lunch, then go back to work and work really hard, then go home and do it all again the next day... which is definately the way life goes! I guess I was just expecting something a little more sugar coated... my husband and I just laughed and figure maybe it will help prepare him for the real world!

I thought it will tell you more information than just its function
By Mom of 2 active boys!Site Member from 15 miles from DISNEYLAND! on 11/1/2006

We wanted a book that told the names of the machines, instead, it was a simplified version of what the functions were. My son was very bored of this book after 2nd time around, (Which is shocking, coming from a boy who wants us to read the same book 20 times in one setting!) that we began to create characters in the book, so they all have names, we count how many people, machines, etc. (but can't go beyond 6) the colors (not very much) Pretty much exhausted all options. If you want a book to explain a lot about construction, this is very limited, and NOT recommended!

great book
By Momma of 3 boysSite Member from Atlanta GA on 11/1/2006

My sons are older now (14 and 11 years) but they still remember this book! It was a favorite for sure. We no longer have it because I gave it to my nephew some years ago, but it looks like I'm going to have to buy another one for my 1 year old. The simple text and bright illustrations are perfect for the 2 thru 6 set. Bob the Builder was not around when my older kids were little, but if your child is into that or trucks, they'll love this book.
