Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

Before buying this crib, I made the mistake of purchasing the cheaper Jenny Lind made by Delta. While that crib was a breeze to assemble (less than 30 minutes thanks to its no-tools-needed instructions), it was immediately apparent that it was seriously lacking in the quality department. I wanted to love it since it was such a good price and because I had already lugged it across town and up the four flights of stairs in my home. I definitely didn't want to have to take it back. BUT I had no choice. Just taking it out of the box, I got a giant splinter (not the craftsmanship I want to expose my toddler to). And once it was all together, my standard size mattress (the size recommended by the manufacturer) did not fit at all -- there was a gap at one end of the crib that I could fit my whole hand in. I pictured my baby's leg (or worse, head) stuck in that crevace. Also, the whole crib seemed very "rickety" for lack of a better term. Having everything preassembled may seem convenient, but it doesn't make for a sturdy product in this case. I immediately returned the Delta crib and ordered the DaVinci Jenny Lind in cherry, hoping for a better experience. Needless to say, I got what I was hoping for. As soon as I opened the box, I could tell this was a MUCH superior product. The quality of craftsmanship is evident. And unlike the Delta model, there was no paint odor at all. This crib has a spring bottom, unlike the Delta which has a cardboard bottom. There are a lot more parts, but honestly, I will sleep much better knowing I assembled everything correctly. I could never sleep knowing my baby was in that Delta crib, with its shoddy craftsmanship. Anyway, it took about an hour for me to put this together, and I'm not very good with directions. The parts aren't labeled, but all you have to do is look carefully at the pictures -- they are very precise. This crib is rock solid -- I am very surprised by other reviewers who said the opposite (really makes me wonder if they are confused and are actually referring to the Delta crib). My standard mattress fits perfectly (nice and snug with no gaps). And while the drop side mechanism operates with plastic parts, they are high quality and haven't caused me any trouble. (Plus, the bracket that holds the mattress frame is metal.) The only thing I would change is the wheel casters -- they seem to be spray painted gold over plastic -- this is the only part of the crib that seems cheap, so I left them off (don't need a rolling crib anyway). Simply put, this is a beautiful, timeless piece of furniture that my family will cherish for generations to come. If you are trying to decide between the Delta and DaVinci models, go DaVinci from the start and save yourself a lot of headache.

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

I loved the vintage look of this crib, and bought it before my son was born. After we assembled it, we noticed that the drop-side kept falling off the tracks when we tried to put it down. We called the company and they said we must have put it together wrong. We didn't. My dad tried to tighten everything and added a spacer to keep the drop-side from coming off the rails, but now that my son is in it (8 months) and we try to use it, the lower half of the drop-side comes off the rail almost everytime we use it. SOOO ANNOYING! When I put the side back up, I usually have to get on my knees and pull back a lever and put it back on the track. Imagine doing this at 2:00 AM - ugh. Not to mention, it is also SOOOO not safe for my baby! Sometimes it will seem like it has clicked into place, and then if you push on the side, it falls down abruptly. It seems recall dangerous if you ask me. I won't let anyone else use the drop side unless they've been carefully taught how to check it to make sure it's fully locked into place and on the rails. This is not something I looked forward to having to do every time I put my son in his crib! Too bad, because I love the look of it.

Flimsy crib
By Jules, mom of an 8 month oldSite Member from Florida on 11/5/2007

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

I bought this crib to have at my mom and dad's house when my son and I visited. The standard mattress I placed in the crib was not tight enough against the slats/posts. I could stick my hand between the side of the crib and mattress with a lot of wiggle room. Also, one side of the drop rail would drop down with the slightest touch. Not a very sturdy product. The Baby Center staff was so helpful in the return.

Works Great for Me
By Ellie, mom of 21 mo oldSite Member from North Carolina on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

I have not had the problems that others have mentioned with this crib and have found that I can operate it with one hand by clicking open one side, then the other, and then sliding the rail down. The best part was having non-removable (by baby) plastic guards on both rails during teething time!

Side drops - doesn't latch
By Claire " a mother of 2year old sonSite Member from Texas on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

I bought this crib for our first baby. After a few months the side started to drop at random times, such as in the middle of the night, etc... The way I realized that this was happening was my son when he was eight months old came crawling into my bedroom during naptime. The side had fallen down and he had fallen out of the crib! My husband attempted to tighten it by tightening all the screws, but it continued to be loose and drop whenever. Now I have to get down on my hands and knees and make sure the latch on the bottom rail catches. Although it is an attractive looking crib, I wouldn't buy it again. And the rail does squeak as mentioned in the other comments.

Only if you are on a budget...
By Wenonah, soon to be first time momSite Member from Arizona on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

I purchased this crib because of the high marks it received from other readers. But I find it to be somewhat unsturdy. The drop side is particularly annoying. It is hard to move up and down without using two hands. Maybe I will get used to it, but I doubt it will get any easier while holding a baby.

Not what it appears
By mother of twoSite Member from South Dakota on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

At first sight, I thought it was great, but the side rail continually squeaks, and when I lower it, the whole crib moves, not to mention, there are screws falling out of the bottom of the crib that I have to continually put back, I would never suggest this crib, when I had my second, I had to buy another crib!

The crib is not only affordable, but its so simple looking. Having the wheels on the crib also help moving the babies room around a lot simpler.

Gorgeous, but not what I was expecting.
By a mom and loving it!Site Member from southern michigan on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

Fell in love with this crib's look and even got good feedback from other moms. But the crib we got has a 2-handed drop rail that is a pain in the neck and doesn't work right (usually ends up shaking the crib)! I refuse to drop it except to change the bedding. Wish my husband had thought to check that out before buying it for me, as I am a convenience nut. That's the only thing I don't like about it, but it's enough of a pain that I warn others to watch out for it.

Spindles BREAK!!!!!!
By Mom of the bed breaking 20th old monsterSite Member from Nebraska on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Crib - White:

We bought this crib for our 1st child and it was great. We took very good care of it so it would last though our other children yet to come. Then came our BOY, what a difference from a girl. He has since broke 2 of the spindles in half and broke the part of the crib that allows you to move the mattress up and down. So now the 20th month old monster is sleeping on a uneven surface until we find a sturdier bed. Oh yeah did I mention #3 is on the way so here I go shopping again.

I purchased this crib for my daughter a year ago. She is very happy with it. I especially like the fact that it can be turned into a daybed when Janell is old enough.
