My wife and I tried a number of different carriers but we had quite a bit of difficulty finding one that fit me (6'5", 270 lbs) and our little boy (big, beefy, heavy baby) comfortably. It was actually impossible for me to get into one of the most popular brands (a shower gift) and the little boy was too big for it by the time he was four months old. If dad shops at a big & tall store and baby is too heavy to carry, the Ergo Baby Sport is exactly what you are looking for.

This carrier has proven to be much more comfortable (especially for back/shoulders) than other carriers. I can adjust it as my baby grows, for various positions or different people wearing it. I like that it is light weight. I think a lighter color would also help keep the heat at a minimum especially on hot, sunny days. I've used it for my daughter since she was 6 months old (now 10 months) and still love it! I do wish that it had some sort of small pocket for a cell phone or a key. It seems a simple, easy addition.

I purchased this carrier to replace my Baby Bjorn, which my 9 month old son is outgrowing. I love the Bjorn, but acknowledge that it causes a lot of back fatigue so I was excited to get the Ergo and save my back. I chose the Ergo Sport because it is summer and I read reviews that the original Ergo can get hot. I just received the Sport and so far, I'm not that impressed. The straps are ridiculously long. I'm 5'6", which I don't consider to be short, but these straps are way too long and make it so that I can't get a good fit over my shoulders when my son is in the carrier. Also, the "vent" is really just a slit in the fabric, and rather than allowing air to flow through, it just causes the carrier to get caught up on my son's body and clothes, making it difficult to get his bottom centered properly, especially when putting him on my back. I am returning the Sport for the original Ergo and am hoping that the shorter straps will provide a better fit so that my son and I can enjoy our walks around town.

I really like this carrier. I use it with my 13 month old. It is a very comfortable way to carry him. I have figured out how to put him into the backpack by myself. It was great an a beach vacation. It is very light and comfortable. I like that the head support attaches to the shoulder straps insead of around your neck like the older carriers.
