Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

It does take awhile to rub in which is the definition of an effective sunscreen. While it is expensive for the price, a little is more effective and lasts much longer than standard brands. The lack of chemicals when my daughter is still putting everything in her mouth makes it well worthwhile!

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

I bought this after researching safer products on the Skin Deep website. ([@])I love this sunscreen. I use it on my face daily as a primer for makeup and it works great. Others have said that it takes a while to rub in, and perhaps it does take a little longer than some other sunscreens, but it does rub in and become clear after a minute or two. The only downside is it costs a bit more than most drugstore sunscreens, but a little bit goes a long way and I think the extra expense is worth using a safe product.

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

I have to agree with several other reviewers when I say that yes, it IS greasy, and yes, it is hard to rub in (it will run if you don't rub it in thoroughly, but if it is rubbed in, it won't run even in the pool). However, once you rub it in, it works so well, and I prefer a chemical-free sunscreen to all the other name brands because those chemicals may be just as harmful to the skin. For those reasons I give this product a 5-star review. I use this on myself and on my 1-year-old daughter's arms/legs whenever we are outside on a daily basis. I have extremely fair Irish skin that burns within minutes. I haven't been able to use most sunscreens because I have sensitive skin and I cannot use a chemical sunscreen. I do keep my daughter covered, but I like to shield her arms/legs and so far neither of us has been burnt. The protection was wonderful when I was in the sun at a festival all day (reapplying as necessary) - not even a hint of a tan. The cost is high, but it is worth it for effective, chemical-free protection against harmful UV rays. I recommend this product to everyone I know.

The best sunscreen I've ever used

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

I have used almost every sunscreen out there and this is the best one for me. It is unscented, works well in water, gives great protection, and, most importantly, does not sting your eyes. EVERY other sunscreen I've used has made my eyes sting. This one did not. My family used this while at the beach during the hottest part of the summer. It gave excellent protection - no burns or problems, and stayed on after swimming. I put it on rather thickly on my daughter's face, and when she splashed in the water, it did run a little on her face, but that's probably because I left it in a thick layer and did not rub it all the way in. Yes, this is expensive lotion and is a smaller tube than many others, but it is one of the safest sunscreens out there for ingredients, and it does not sting the eyes.

Hard to rub in
By M3 from East Bay, CA on 7/5/2009
Pros:
Effective Protection, Not Greasy, UVA/UVB Protection
Cons:
Hard to rub in
Best Uses:
Beach, Swimming

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

Assuming that mineral based sunscreens are safe (there are some concerns out there about micronized titanium dioxide), this stuff is good b/c of that. however I find it almost impossible to rub in my little guy - meaning he runs around looking like casper and that's no good for those adorable beach shots.

Greasy and not worth the money
By AMO from Maryland on 7/1/2009
Cons:
Greasy or Heavy, Runs Easily
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

This product is greasy. When it gets wet you can see it on a child's skin and it runs, including into my 2 year old's eyes. May daughter likes the sun on the bottle but then hates when I put it on. Skip the high price tag and go with the Aveeno for kids which has a nicer feel and is not greasy and doesn't run. Not sure why all these other people rate this product so highly???

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

My baby has extremely sensitive skin. California Baby is the only brand of sun block that I've found that doesn't cause him to break out AND it's fairly waterproof. It's expensive but I won't use anything else.

I have 4 boys under 4 years old and need SAFE and easy sun protection. I loved how well it rubbed in and did not feel greasy at all. However, I was not impressed with the size considering the price. I also plan on contacting the company regarding it bleaching out my son's clothes. I will probably continue using it due to the fact it is "chemical free"

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

I primarily bought this product because it's rated FAR safer than the off-the-shelf brands I had been using (based on information I found at [@], a great resource for all cosmetic-type products).I, of course, am pleased by the safety of this product for my kids. But the tube is SMALL, especially for the price. My own fault for judging by the photo and not the actual size. But this tube is just 2.9 oz. To compare, the Banana Boat stand-up tube is 8 oz. So a significant difference in size as well as price. I would have HAPPILY paid twice as much for the same amount of safer product. Twice as much for less than half the amount? Not sure I will do that again. So, word to the wise. If money is no object, this is a great choice. But I think I will look at a safer alternative that gives me a bit more for the money. My rating is really reflective of the somewhat puny amount you get for the cost rather than the performance of the product itself, which is very good.

I love this sunscreen for my boys. I researched sunscreens very carefully and this was the best one I have tried that was on my "safe" list. It protects well, doesn't stink, and absorbs better than some other non-chemical sunscreens.

worth the price, safe to use
By Karyle, mother of 2 wonderful boysSite Member from Honolulu, HI on 8/31/2008

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

a bit more expensive than the other sunscreens, but well worth it. Does take a little longer to apply since it's thicker and not as easily spreadable as other sunscreens, but lasts a very long time and very water resistant. It's the only sunscreen I use on my two sons (ages 4 and 2) with no complaints about burning eyes or itchy skin. I've also noticed that it has long lasting power - never gotten "red" or slightest incling of sunburn with this product even if I stayed in the sun for hours.

Pretty good!
By Karen from Massapequa Park, NY on 8/29/2008
Cons:
Expensive
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

I bought this product b/c I wanted sunscreen with bug repellent in it since both my kids have mosquito allergies. It works great as a sunscreen, but it could be better as far as its bug repellent. I used to use Avon's Sun and Bugs, but when I read about the chemicals in it, I didn't want to put it on my kids anymore. While that was more effective, I feel safer using this. The repellent may work somewhat for the everyday, but if you are going into a more bug-infested area, like hiking at dusk, it is completely ineffective. The sunscreen is also very thick.

Great sunscreen
By Pharmacist MommyVerified Reviewer from Nashville, TN on 8/13/2008

Comments about California Baby SPF30+ Sunscreen Lotion - Super Sensitive - 2.9 oz:

I have a fair-skinned redhead who loves to be outside. We have been using California Baby sunscreens since she was 9 months old. She is now 4 and never had a sunburn. Very effective. It is very thick and messy to apply, but I think it is worth the extra time to apply since it doesn't contain chemical sunscreens. This citronella scent is not my favorite; it smells a little strong and doesn't seem to repel mosquitoes. Now I stick with the unscented and original scents. Overall, a great product.

My husband and Daughter have skin problems and have always try to stay out of the sun because all other sunscreens would cause there skin to be worse now they play outside together and don't have to worry about anything
