We make most solid foods for our 8 month old by steaming and pureeing, but because of concerns surrounding nitrate accumulation in certain vegetables, we decided to go with commercially prepared carrots (supposedly baby food makers screen for nitrates in their products). We have been very pleased with these carrots - the baby loves them (they're naturally very sweet) and downs them like they're going out of style. They are smooth and don't contain any weird chunks like other baby food I have seen. The container is easy to open - just point away from you when peeling back the lid or you might get a spurt of carrot on your front. The other thing to note is that these containers, after opening, are not leak-proof - so don't stick a half-eaten container in your diaper bag.

Great tasting product. I love that it's organic. I'm dismayed to see that Gerber has instructions on how to microwave the product- microwaving fractures the molecules in the food. Masaru Emoto did a series of experiments on the effects of microwaves on water molecules, please see his book "Messages from Water." Nevertheless, I like the product, I just do not recommend microwaving it.

Surprised that the Gerber Organic Green Beans actually tasted like green beans! Baby loved them and will buy more cases, as making our own green beans didn't come out so well. Only complaint is that Gerber is moving to the horrible little plastic tubs that can not be recycled (they are #7 plastic). Hope they change that soon!
