Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

We have used these diapers all day - every day for the past four months. They never ever leak or "blow out". Our baby sleeps for ten or more hours a night, wakes up with a soaked diaper but her skin is always dry and she never has any kind of diaper rash or irritation. The stains come out easily if you rinse the bm diapers and then soak them in a pail with OxyClean Free and then follow the manufacturer's washing directions. My chief complaint is that we purchased many many of these because we love them and thought our baby wouldn't need any other diaper until potty trained; however, our 13lb 8oz four month old is already wearing them unsnapped to be as big as they get. Clearly they are not going to fit up to 35lbs! I don't know what she'll wear when all of these are too small.

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

We bought a dozen of these diapers about 1 1/2 years ago and they are still in good shape. The laundry tabs are the only thing showing a little wear (the velcro doesn't stick as well) after being used and washed every day. My only complaint is one will leak every morning when our daughter first wakes up and wets them heavily after sleeping all night. Otherwise we are satisfied with this product and would buy more in the future. (I love all the colors!)

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

I love Bumgenius. I've tried several other brands of pocket diapers and these work the best. The sizing options are better than the others that I've tried. They're also much trimmer than others, even when fully stuffed. I use these overnight with both inserts and have not had a problem with leaks at all. I rinse them out as soon as I can before putting them in the pail and wash every other day. I always line dry them, and the suns have kept them stain free.

6 months in . . .

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

My little girl will turn 6 months on the 17th and my wife and I couldn't be happier with these diapers. We made the decision to go cloth about a year ago, but didn't know which ones to get. She bought this trial pack that had 1 Happy Heinys, 1 Mommy's Touch, 1 Fuzzi Bunz, and 1 Bumgenius 3.0. We bought 29 more 3.0's and use those other three last in our rotation. Acually, that Happy Heinys is out of the rotation because it's too small now.

These diapers will leak . . . . when the insert gets soaked. That insert can only hold so much "liquid". We're on the big insert overnight and still using the small one during the day.

And to keep these diapers from staining, we use diaper liners. Catches all the "#2" and keeps these diapers looking great.

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

We ordered 3 of these, since everyone seems to love this brand. They fit my 15 lb infant well on the small setting, or medium setting with an extra insert for nighttime. He wore his bumgenius diaper for 11 hours last night with no leaks. The inserts were soaked and his skin was not soaked. Nice. I'm going to order more of these. I just wish they came in more colors or cute prints because I love variety.

Very Bulky for the first several months

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

Now that my baby is larger, I like these diapers. When he was first born, I tried using these on their smallest setting and they were just to bulky on him. Day Care commented that when he was first sitting he keep falling over because these diapers where so large in the front - being folded over. Now they are good, in fact I was going to buy a few more but after researching not all of this product is made in the USA. There are plenty of other cloth diapers out there that are one sizes that are USA made ONLY.

One year later, they still work well.

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

We have been using the bum genius 3.0 diapers for one year on two babies nine months apart. They are a good, solid diaper, and they appear to be in the same condition as when they were new. They fit our infants at about 4 weeks, and we've been using them since then. They are absorbent and do not leak as long as you care for them EXACTLY as Cotton Babies recommends. We tried shortcuts at first and they leaked. They rarely leak now, even when our children wear them for 12 hours through the night.

You have to use a "five star" rated detergent (like Planet) - which appears to be expensive at first, but it goes a long way. You have to use special liners if you use diaper creme (which, for us, was not very often) and wash them separately. You have to run through two wash cycles and an extra rinse.

We also installed (and like) the Bum Genius diaper sprayer on our toilet, which is useful for getting off the icky solids immediatly after changing. It's also useful for cleaning the training potty.

If you're willing to go through the effort to take care of them, they are worth the money.

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

This product works great. I tried disposables for awhile and they just always blew out and ruined multiple outfits. I've never had a leaky bumGenius diaper. Great product and I dare say better than anything else on the market, my husband even loves them! My only complaints are that my son has just about outgrown them... and he only weighs 20lbs so I'm not certain that the 32lbs they say that they'll fit to is accurate or not. Also I've noticed that men hands do not fit in the diapers to put the insert in... not sure if there is any way around this or not and it would be great if the insert could be secured in place better... for example that the opening would snap shut too? Somehow my wiggly boy can manage to pull out part of the insert and I think the diapers would work so much better if the insert could be closed in place.

A huge disappointment

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

I seem to be the only person who did not like this product. I ordered a few to test them out. I only used 2. When my daughter wet the diaper one time, it had a very unpleasant odor. When she pooped in another one, I took it off immediately and tried to soak it. The stain never came out. Also, upon removing the pants for that diaper change, the snap base ripped right out of the pants! That was the end of them for me and I sent them back for a full refund from the site I bought them from.

Infant insert vs. all in one
By sjsVerified Reviewer from Yorba Linda, CA on 7/8/2009
Pros:
Fold Well, Good Value, Highly Absorbent, Soft, Wash Well
Cons:
Expensive
Best Uses:
Toddlers
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

I did a lot of research before my son was born to understand the benefits as well as differences of the infant insert compared to the all-in-one insert. After buying and using them I now understand and wanted to pass this along. The infant insert is shorter for the smaller snap on the diaper. Therefore there is not the bulk in the back or front that an infant would have b/c of the smaller size. The all-in-one insert expands to the largest size of the diaper but creates bulk if an infant is wearing it. Maybe I was the only confused one! We love these diapers but if you are looking for a less expensive alternative,[...] has created a very similar product for less. It does not come with the infant insert, but does have an extra snap for when the child is older. Something to consider. We bought both to compare and we like them equally well for different reasons.

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

I really wanted to try cloth diapers since I was pregnant with my 3 year old. However, my husband talked me out of it. With our third though I was set that I wanted to try and at least partially use them. Thankfully after doing the research I found these and my husband agreed (I think that fact that he'll be gone for the next year was a factor). While I agree with what some other people have said about them being a little on the large side its fine with me. I just look at it that once she is a little larger they will fit a little smaller. And as for the staining factor, hello they are diapers! Since we aren't using them at night (using Seventh Generation then) I'm not too sure how they hold up at night, but so far we have had no leaks during the day. Which is something that I can't even say about the Seventh Gen diapers that I have sworn by for years, and still love though. Bottom line while you will spend a lot at first these will save you money in the long run and help limit waste in the landfill too!

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

I have used these diapers for a year now and have had no problems. I followed the manufacturers recommended wash routine and have found these to be great and long lasting. The detergents you use is important as many leave residue causing them to stain more and leak. I use Charlie's Soap. I also love the BumGenius diaper sprayer and since I spray these before putting in the dry pail I have never had stain issues. (Stains come out in the sun). I have 15 diapers to rotate through and am sure that these will last at least another year. Also, I hang dry the outer part as to keep the velcro lasting longer. Take care of these and they will last a long time!!!!

Comments about bumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper 3.0 - Butternut:

I am so excited about this product! I have 6 month old son and we have been using bumGenius for a month now. I have been wanting to purchase these since before he was born but we were given so many disposables I didn't want to waste them. My biggest problem was every day at least once a day my son would have a "blow out!" It was awful (especially if we were out running errands) Ever since we started bumGenius we haven't had a leak! I started with using the infant insert at night since everyone seems to recommend it but I have realized that for my son, we don't need to double up. They are adorable and everyone I show the diapers too are so impressed they want to switch too. I use the biokleen bac-out spray on all the diapers for smell and I bleach out the inserts every couple loads to get rid of stains. I have the bumGenius sprayer but I don't seem to use it very often (we aren't really doing solids yet) We use about 7 diapers a day so I have 8 white and 6 green and I do laundry every other day. I have to say overall I am well impressed. I love that I never have to get another diaper. I plan on using these with my next child as well.

I am such a believe in this product. I have had nothing but positive experiences with our Bum Genius diapers! The best part about this product is that you only have to buy them once. Meaning, they grow with your child from newborn up until they're ready to be potty-trained. Three wonderful size settings.
