Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

Great product, so much better than the "Clean Air". We received both the Diaper Genie and a "Clean air" product at a baby shower and kept one for upstairs and one for downstairs and teh Diaper Genie is such a better product the other you have to change batteries, and filters and it still smells horrible. The Genie on the other hand is easy to use the replacement bags are resonable price and it keeps the house from smelling like diapers.

I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN
By JennyVerified Reviewer from Bayard, IA on 10/6/2009
Pros:
Not smelly diapers
Cons:
Too expensive to replace
Best Uses:
Small and Sleek
Describe Yourself:
Parent of Multiples (Twins etc)
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

The pro's are it is small and takes up less space and doesn't smell up the house with diapers. The biggest con is the expense for the refills that never seem to last long enough. Having twins is crucial to save where possible. I owned a diaper pail with my daughter (9 yrs) that would take a regular garbage bag and you would twist the top to untwist the bag to put a diaper in and retwist the top to close it up to eliminate smell. It was great!!! Of course can't find one now....only thing on market that looked 1/2 way decent so I bought the Genie II. Double diapers and double smell no matter if wet or dirty this doesn't work for the hard to get in top, tipping over until it was more full and the cost of the refills.

Not as good as Diaper Champ
By SBMAMA from Santa Barbara, CA on 9/29/2009
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Difficult to Clean, Unhygienic
Best Uses:
Daily Use
Describe Yourself:
Parent of Two or More Children
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

I'm not very happy with this product. Here is why:
1. The refills are only good for a couple of full containers.
2. The bottom knot comes loose leaving a huge pile of stinky diapers I have to pick out and put in a new bag.
3. Refills are too expensive for how little use you get out of them.
4.Odor control is poor
5. pushing the diapers through the hole is gross if the "waste" is leaking out the side, it gets all over-yuck.
I had the other brand with my first child and wished I would have bought that one again. The reason I didn't is because it started to smell after about a year and a half and it wouldn't get clean. Now I know I'd just buy a new one at that point because everything else about it was great!

Satisfied
By Mom of 1.5 from Chicagoland on 9/11/2009
Pros:
Convenient, Easy To Use
Best Uses:
Daily Use, Diaper Changing
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

I'm pleased with the product. My son has been eating table food for a month now (and baby food for a couple months before that), and the Genie seems to be able to handle the added stink with aplomb. My only complaints are that I often have trouble opening the lid one-handed to place the dirty diaper inside (if the Genie is mostly empty, it has a tendency to tip when you try to open the lid), and it can be a bit tricky to empty the Genie if it is particularly full, since the hinge is in the middle.

Many posters have commented that it's unhygienic to push the diaper through the top of the Genie, but I wrap mine well and push from the butt of the diaper where there are no openings for ooze, and I don't have a problem. Besides, if I'm changing a dirty diaper, I always scrub my hands afterward--merely changing a dirty diaper is, technically, unhygienic.

I use the Diaper Genie exclusively for smelly diapers--the wet ones go in a standard garbage can, which we empty regularly. This means that I am only on my fourth refill, despite the fact that my son is 9.5 months old--a BIG money saver.

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

I use this product everyday for my 9 month old daughter I love that there is no smell!!! However I am currently 7 months pregnant with my second and the thought of sticking that first morning diaper filled completely with both 1&2's make my stomach turn. I usually end up putting that diaper in a store bag and taking it straight outside!! I wish you did not have to stick the diaper down into it, not sanitary and depending on the diaper kida gross!

Would not recommend.

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

We use the pail for adult diapers to control odor which it does very well. It is difficult to drop the diapers into the pail. It is necessary to push the diapers through the top which causes the liner to also be pushed down. This wastes the liner (makes you use more than needed) I would like to return the product. Would not recommend that you buy.

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

This is my third diaper pail and I am really disappointed. My first was the Diaper Champ. It lasted almost a year, but it started to get a little noisy and smelly. I purchased a Graco automatic opening pail next and think it is the BEST! Unfortunately, I broke it doing something the instructions clearly tell you not to do-I tried to open it manually when it was full. So, my daughter is 16 months old and while I should have bought another Diaper Champ since she will not be in diapers much longer, I mistakenly bought this. It is cheap and you have to shove your hand down in it-the least hygiengic of all possible diaper solutions! Do not buy this! It is worthless.

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

I love my Diaper Genie. I don't have experience with other diaper pail systems but I do love this one. You flip the lid up (it can be a little hard to open when you're holding a messy diaper in your only free hand) and push the diaper down in the hole until the spring-loaded clamp opens up then you pull your hand out and the mess and smell stay with the diaper. The amount of use you get out of each refill cartridge depends in part by what size of diaper you're using and also how much of a header you use when tying the knot to close the bags. When the pail is full, you open the bottom half, pull a little plastic out to have enough room to tie a knot on the top of the full bag of diapers then you have to tie a knot at the bottom of the remaining liner in the pail for the next batch. If you leave a long "tail" on your knots, you won't get as much use out of one refill. Also you'll notice when you go to a bigger size diaper of course the pail fills up faster. Refills are pretty expensive for something you're throwing away. They are easy to change out though and keeps the dirty mess contained. I've made it a habit to use a disinfecting wipe on the outside of the pail and on the lid every time I change the bag to limit the spread of germs. We got our Diaper Genie before our son was born and he is almost 3 months old now. We've gone through 3 refills already, so that is about one a month, and that is only for newborn and size 1 diapers. I can't imagine how often we'll have to refill when he is wearing bigger diapers! We had been using this for every single diaper thrown away and recently decided (because of refill cost) to throw wet diapers in the trash directly and any smelly diapers in the Genie. I think this will help stretch the life of each refill, as well as the fact that when I go back to work in a week our son will be in day care and will not have every single diaper each day thrown away in the Diaper Genie. I will also say this, our son is breastfed and NOT yet eating solid foods so his stinkiest diaper is nowhere near as bad as it could be. I have high hopes however that the Diaper Genie will do its job when that time comes and keep the stink in.

Smelly if used for Babies 18mos and over
By JaneMVerified Reviewer from Boston, MA on 2/23/2009

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

Before purchasing, I read reviews and the Diaper Genie Elite II seemed to be the best thing. I had the Diaper Genie I but the twisting and cutting the bags was just too time consuming but it worked. So, I threw out the old and purchased the new. My son is 22 months and it's fine as long as there is only urine diapers in. However as soon as you place a "smelly diaper" in there, the smells hit you right in your face when you go to place another diaper in. Now, my husband and I are expecting our 5th child so I believe I will hold on to it and place it in the newborn nursery but I am now stuck with having to repurchase another diaper pail for my 22 month old son all over again. If you are looking to purchase this for children who are already on solids......I would warn against it.

Comments about Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Genie II Pail:

When my daughter was born we used an open trash can and walmart bags. As she got older and started on solid food, we knew thwt we had to do something different. So I read a lot of reviews on different diaper disposal pails. This is the one we ended up getting. It works great. One refill will last us a month or more. After what we were doing the refills are not that expensive to us. There is no smell as long as you take the diapers out once a week or so. I also spray Lysol inside every time I empty the pail to protect against smell.

I would not reccomend buying this. My son is only 7 weeks old and ours has alraedy broken. Plus the refills can get very expensive. We have already spent $50 on garbage bags for it. I would reccomend buying a garbage pail with a foot pedal for hands free disposal. Also look for one that uses standard garbage bags.

So easy to use. I have used a grand total of 3 diaper disposable systems, so I'm not claiming to be an expert, but this was the best of the 3 for these reasons: - By far, easiest to put dirty diapers in. - Holds the most dirty diapers. - Once they are put in there, you can't see them ever again - only system to do this "hard and fast". Highly recommended.
