We started sitting our baby in this when she was about 3 months old and she absolutely loves it. She sits in it when we are eating dinner or watching Einstein, etc and seems to really like sitting on her own. We also use the play tray to set her toys on and she is entertained for awhile. It seems very sturdy but I don't leave her unattended in it. Also wipes clean easily after diaper accidents. Definitely one of our favorite purchases so far!

I have been somewhat disappointed in this product based on what I paid for it. I started putting my baby in around 3-4 months when she had pretty good head control but before long, she would start fussing because she didn't want to stay in too long. When we started solids around 5 months, it was good at first, but she would often lean over the side and recently, she fell out twice! My baby is on the small side (10-15th percentile in weight) but she is quite squirmy and she would arch backwards and lean so far over the side and her leg would come up and she would fall out. I caught her once but the second time, I wasn't fast enough and she bonked her forehead on the floor. Never, ever put this on a table (even though it says NOT to, some people still do) because your baby can definitely fall out of this. So yeah, short life span but if you are planning on having more kids or have someone you can let borrow it, it's okay. I think I will lend it to my sister.

The Bumbo is a good product for baby when they are not quite reliably sitting up on their own all of the time, or for travel. When our son was a little younger, we took it with us to the beach so he could sit up under the shade with the rest of the family. It also came in handy when we traveled cross-country to Gma's, as it doubles as a highchair if you have the attachable snack tray. However, though it was all well and good for 4-6 months, like so many baby items, we could only use it for about 8 weeks. My son's thighs quickly became too large for the seat-- he is only slightly larger than average, coming in at around the 60th %. I suppose you must decide for yourself if you are going to use it enough to justify its purchase for such a short period. However, if your child is on the smaller side, you may get more use out of it. My neighbor owned one as well, and she complained that every time her son was seated in it he seemed to spit up a lot, as the angle seemed to put him TOO upright. We never had this problem, but it is something to consider. Overall, good design and idea-- the material can simply be wiped down or sprayed off with a hose (as with sand at the beach)-- easy clean, super-light and easy to transport. If it could be used for a longer period, I would rate it substantially higher, but the product's lifespan makes me question the price (value).
