you get what you pay for
By Gena, mother of 1Site Member from Chicopee MA on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

I made the mistake of putting this on my wish list as well as the changing table I really wanted. Well my mother in law got us this one because it was less expensive. The shelves are no stronger than cardboard, my 8 month old can reach and pull everything off the shelves so we have had to buy a second dresser for her diapers, balm, etc. and most importantly, my daughter can also pull the unit right over due to no anchor system. Unless you like to worry about a table falling on your toddlers head, buy a different table.

does the job
By mom of 1 yr oldSite Member from charlotte, nc on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

Not heirloom quality, but it's done the job for a year now. I've never had a concern w/changing my daughter on it. Shelves did seem a bit flimsy when constructing, but I don't use to store a ton of heavy items. For the price, it's great, and I'm purchasing another for a 2nd home.

There are many reasons ...

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

There are many reasons why I rated this changing table the way I did. The first is that it has a very high side rails to prevent the child from rolling off. Also there is a lot of space to keep the baby's things on.

Faulty shelves
By Laurie--1st time motherSite Member from Fort Wayne, IN on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

I was surprised that the shelves are such thin particle board and soon disappointed with the bottom two shelves which are held in place only by their edges. Fortunately the top shelf/changing table has a metal bar that reinforces it. Within one week, after keeping only one package of diapers, some cotton balls and some wipes on the second shelf, it came out and would not stay in place. We used a heavy tape to tape it back in place and provide a little support so that we could continue to put the diapers and wipes there. By the second week, the bottom shelf came out. We only had a foam cushion on it. We taped that one, too. We're still using it, but it would be much better if all 3 shelves had metal support bars to hold the sides in and support the bottom two shelves.

Long Lasting
By Carrie - mom of 2Site Member from Wisconsin on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

I used this table for my daughter over 6 years ago and now for our son without problem. My daughter gave it a work-out for changing and later as toy shelving. Minor reinforcement under the top shelf, extra glue, and tightening screws has given it a new life for our son. Durable and functional.

Shabby
By AnonymousSite Member from Undisclosed on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

After putting together this changing table, my husband and I realized that the shelves were really flimsy. We were not sure that it would hold a paperweight, much less a baby. We ended up returning ours as it didn't seem safe to us.

bad shelves
By Diana, mom of twoSite Member from Randolph, NJ on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

Reasonably priced, but shelves are faulty. The top shelf came with a reinforcement bar; however, the other shelves fall out easily. We reinforced the others and it is stable now, but it took time and money. Spend a little extra money and buy something better.

cheap shelves
By Bobi Beth, a mother of 4 girlsSite Member from Columbus, WI on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

This is a beautiful changing station but I didn't realize when we bought it how cheap the shelves were! For $50 I expected better!! We have replaced the shelves many times and there is not a lot of weight on them at all (1 or 2 lbs. maybe)!

The best gift of all
By La Wanda, Mother of identical twinsSite Member from Westchester, CA on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

I received this changing table as a gift when my babies were 2 mos. I was on bed rest for the entire pregnancy so the shower was after the birth. So for 2 mos I changed diapers whereever we were, the bed, the couch, the coffee table. This is the very best baby gift I have received to date. My boys are 21 mos now and we are still using it. In fact the reason I came to the site today was to see if there is a weight restriction listed, I was disappointed to see that there is not. My boys weigh 29 and 28 lbs and so far there has been no buckling of any sort. Just wish I knew when to stop using it, I guess when their legs are hanging over the edge will have to be the clue.

Shelves are terrible!
By AnonymousSite Member from Michigan on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

I purchased this changing table for our first son, and right away the bottom shelves started falling out. We also have to tighten the screws every couple of weeks so the changing table is not so wobbly.

spindles are easily removed
By Joseph's MomSite Member from central New Jersey on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

I chose this product because it matches the colors of our furniture. This is not the best reason to select baby furniture. From the time he was 2 months old, our son was obsessed with removing the back spindles which are only connected by a friction fit, not an adhesive or screws. I have tried crazy glue, wood glue, gorilla glue, etc, and nothing makes the connections strong enough to resist his removing the entire back rail. Our son has Down Syndrome and low muscle tone, so the typical child would probably be able to dismantle the table even more easily. The changing table is not very sturdy. We have a different one in his bedroom, which is much sturdier. We are now expecting our second child, and plan to throw away this table and start over.

Love it.
By Renee, first time mommySite Member from Richmond Ky on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

I love my changing table. The high rails keep baby from rolling off and the shelves are so useful. It is a good ideal to reinforce the top shelf however as this is were baby lies. We added an extra support rod and it works great.

cheap floppy shelves
By Angie, expecting motherSite Member from Undisclosed on 11/1/2006

Comments about DaVinci Jenny Lind Changing Table - Ebony:

As it says in the assembly instructions, this table is only safe for up to 20 lbs. You'll have to buy a new changing shelf after your baby weighs more than 20 lbs. What a waste! I'm returning it immediately.
