Comments about Safety 1st Apex 65 Apex 65 Booster Car Seat - Lamont:

Let me start off by saying I did so much research before making this purchase........and I'm so mad at myself that I didn't buy another Britax. I have only used Chicco infant car seats and Britax Marathons but just didn't want to spend that much money again. We had did some switching around of car seats and that left my three year old without a five point harness car seat (which I strongly believe kids under the age of 6 need to be in a harnessed car seat) Anyway long story short after hours of research I decided on the Safety 1st Apex 65 and what a disappoinment it is!!! Very flimsy and I actually had to cut the fabric so I could get the buckle out to move it up one slot!!! Hard to install and I just can't seem to get it as tight as our other Britax car seats. We are leaving for a trip in a few days or else I would be sending this seat back!! I plan on buying another Britax when we get back and "donating" this seat!! Guess that's what I get for trying to save a little money!

Comments about Safety 1st Apex 65 Apex 65 Booster Car Seat - Lamont:

This seat is the lowest priced seat with 5pt harness I could find. There are other convertible seats which harness up to 50lbs, which may compare in price but this was the overall best buy for us as my child is already past 40lbs at 4 years old. The other more popular seats, such as the Britax line, were out of my price range even on sale. In choosing between this, the Graco Nautilus, and the Compass True Fit, this was the best fit and price as well. The seat is soft with a comfortable amount of padding to keep kids relaxed on long trips. There are side impact wings with the safety foam along the top but it does not impair their ability to see out the window. There are four harness heights to adjust to. The crotch buckle can be adjusted as well. The headrest can be raised as your child grows. I think the harness straps could be a bit longer though. This may not be ideal for a child that is thicker or has a bigger tummy. As the harness straps may not allow for a comfortable fit up to 65lbs. I had a Britax Roundabout previously. I have to say that the adjusting and buckling process on that seat was easier. Overall, for parents who would like to keep their child harnessed longer but can't afford to spend $300-$400 on a car seat, this would be an alternative you would appreciate. Thank you Safety 1st and Diapers.com!
