I cleaned the entire area twice and let it dry before putting the lock on. I let it sit for two hours before trying to use the oven. When I went to open the lock it fell right off. It was fine when no one was touching it.

This oven lock works great for us! I almost didn't buy it because of the reviews, but it was installed very easily (make sure you clean the area first), is very secure, and has worked perfectly for us for the past two months.

This lock doesn't fit my oven at all-- a 2006 Kenmore model. It's not an "old" or weird model of oven, either. In order for this to be useful, your oven would have to be COMPLETELY flat on the front. The catch mechanism is tricky, and I found myself having to push really hard to get it to the position needed to open it-- so much so that I'm positive the adhesive backing would have come right off the oven (if it had actually been mountable on my oven). I am really disappointed in the entire Safety 1st line of childproofing products-- every one I have tried has been a piece of junk.

Easy to install. Easy to use but took a little bit of getting used to. Taking hot items out of the oven was a bit tricky at first because you need to make sure that the bottom flap is not in the way. Overall, glad we bought it. Our 9 month old can reach the oven handle and this thing totally stops him from opening it. Very important!!

This latch works perfectly!! I have a one year old who loved to pull on the oven door. My husband first cleaned the oven door with a degreaser and then wiped it with alcohol to remove all residue. He waited until the area was completely dry and then applied the adhesive part of the latch. I have pulled on the oven door to check its strength and it has NOT come off. Side note: The directions on the package say to install on the center part of the door but when opened the latch would not clear the door handle so we installed it to the side and it keeps the oven door completely closed. This product was definitely worth it!!!

I love this oven lock. My boys like to open and close the oven before I got it. We had one minor burn before I got this but now since they can't open it they've lost interest. We use the oven 3-4 times a week and its still stuck very well. My husband cleaned the surface really well and used alcohol just to make sure there was no residue from anything. We have not had any issues with the lock.

Worked fine for me (on two different ovens), but I bought one for my sister and it did NOT fit her oven. Major design flaw that it is not universal, and you can't tell until after you open the package and attempt to install it. I would buy it again because it's cheap, but be prepared to possibly waste [$] (which I agree is inexcusable). I did not have the popping-off problem that other reviewers had.

We use our stove frequently. We installed this as soon as our daughter started walking at 11 months. She's 18 months now and it's still holding up. I'm so glad I've found this product.

I installed this item and initially thought it was great, but after only 2 weeks it fell off and wouldn't stick back on. I use my oven only a few times a week so it's not like the oven lock took alot of abuse. When installing it I followed directions perfectly and unlocked it for oven use with great care. Trust me when I say don't bother buying this. You too will realize it's a waste of money.

I read the directions. My husband read the directions. We installed it per the directions, it fell off. Luckily, it fell off before my son ever saw it. Don't bother.

I bought this product, installed it according to the directions. Shut the oven tried to open it and the advesive didn't hold on to the oven part. It is a good idea but I ended up throwing it into the garbage.

I searched all over for an oven lock, and was excited to get this one. Imagine my surprise to realize it doesn't clear the handle on my oven - I can't use it. The part that flips requires about 1 3/4 inches to work, and there is only about an inch to my handle. It seems like it would be strong and effective, if only I could use it.

This product did not have a strong enough grip for my 2 year old son. All he has to do is pull the oven door hard enough and the lock adhesive will come undone. Tried two different locks, neither one was strong enough.
