Work for Us!

Comments about Safety 1st Spring n' Release Latches - 10 pk:

These work just fine for us. Yes, they are more difficult to install, but once you get the hang of it, they're not that difficult. We use the gap these allow the cabinets to open to our benefit. To prevent my son from getting overly frustrated at not being able to open the cabinet at all (especially after he sees Mommy do it with ease), I place smaller, safe objects for him to play with right inside the cabinets - so he can still "open" the cabinet and get satisfaction out of playing with things in the kitchen. It's saved us from dealing with quite a few meltdowns and keeps him entertained for longer, trying to squeeze the safe objects out through the gaps. I'm ordering more for the other cabinets/drawers I've missed around the house.

Comments about Safety 1st Spring n' Release Latches - 10 pk:

We've installed these latches on most of the low cabinets in our house, as well as on one large kitchen drawer. While I agree with the other reviewers that these are kind of a pain to install and they do leave a pretty big gap, they do the job of deterring our 14-month-old daughter from getting into things that can hurt her. True, she can still sneak a plastic lid or two from the drawer, but she can't pull out chemical bottles, BBQ utensils, or heavy pans. I had to adjust a couple of the latches so that they caught better; the first time I installed them, the hook was too low, so it barely caught and my daughter was able to open the cabinet, but that was my fault.

My 13 month old figured these out so fast. They are not easy to install and now we have to install different ones that actually work. Frustrating, like we don't have enough to do as parents.

We installed these for use in our home with our toddler. On the first attempt, he defeated them. They are really useless and have a poor design. I love products from this band and have used all the others around my home for baby proofing. So its not the band, just the product. The baby gates are great though!

After I finally convinced my husband to take out the drill and install them I thought they would be great. Not even a week later, 2 of them are already broken. They also don't keep the cabinet closed enough and my daughter can pull things out the side from the opening. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Comments about Safety 1st Spring n' Release Latches - 10 pk:

My only complaint about these drawer/cabinet locks is that they are a little more difficult to install than the package indicates. You will definitely need an electric or cordless screw driver to install. But once they are properly placed and installed they work wonderfully. They are a little easier on your hands than some other types of drawer/cabinet locks. I have hand pain and weakness due to a medical problem and these locks make use much more comfortable and easy than others. I do worry that as my son gets older that he might be able to figure them out, but we will cross that bridge when the time comes.
