I wanted something to use on my toddler daughter that wasn't a harsh chemical, and thought this would be great. I tried it twice, and both times the next day had to sooth my daughter's multiple swollen mosquito bites. I was wearing regular bug spray and got no bites. Don't waste your money.

I've used this at the beach, where it worked for horseflies, and at home where it works when my neighbor's koi pond is breeding mosquitoes or the park gets buggy at twilight. It works well enough-- not perfectly, but it improves the situation a lot. And to me this is a more than acceptable trade-off for the peace of mind that comes from a non-toxic product. I am not a woodsman and I don't spend time in Lyme disease areas, and I'm sure I'd want something stronger in those situations. But for beach and backyard and park settings, I recommend this without hesitation.

The smell is quite strong, like a citronella candle with other herbal notes, and it is a little greasy. But you don't need much, because it's so strong, so that keeps the greasiness minimal. I like the smell, and the peace of mind from using a natural product is a huge plus.

I obsessed and researched all-natural bug repellents for a long time!! I found this one to not only work, but has a pleasant scent like a citronella candle. It IS a bit tricky to apply...I spray it on my hands and then rub it on my 20-month old son. He has sensitive skin and it's fine! I do his arms, legs, neck, face. And I don't feel like I have to rush to clean it off of him because there are no toxic chemicals. I'm sure this product may not work for everyone...but it sure beats any DEET product that can harm your child.

This stuff is a joke. It has a weird smell that seemed to attract the bugs. It literally did the opposite of what it said it would do. I was terribly disappointed and have lost confidence in burt's bees. I wouldn't waste your money, try another product!

Was really excited to see that Burt's had an insect repellent. However... after spraying this on myself and my two older children, when we came in the house an hour later, we had all been eaten alive by mosquitos. Don't think this helped a bit!

This product was wonderful, I am a mosquito magnet, but when I put this stuff on, I didn't get stung. The product is easily absorbed by the skin, just spray and rub it on. It worked great on me, my babies and my hubby.

I found this repellent to work very well on people. The smell was so strong it gave my son and me headaches. It also did not work very well at all. We were both bitten just as if we were not wearing repellent at all.

I bought this to try to avoid using a deet product on our 1 year old while playing in our backyard. I tried it on myself first and while the odor is not unpleasant it is extremely strong. After 30 minutes I had to go shower because of the headache it gave me though it did not seem to bother our son. I would have used it on him if the product had worked. I was bitten more with the "repellant" than without it. This may work on other insects but not mosquitoes.

This insect repellent works great for me and I'm usually eaten up outdoors. I like the fact that it is all-natural, so I can hold my baby without worries. A spray would be better than the stream, but it is still the best natural deterrent I have tried.

This worked well to keep bugs away but I stopped using it out of fear that it would stain my sons nice clothes. I dont have the money to replace clothing so we switched to jasons

This stuff really works. It even worked when we recently visited Kentucky and for anyone that knows the mountains, there are bugs out all day long. I used it on my 7 month old, myself and my husband and no one had a bite on them!! It smells strong but good and is safe. My son has really sensitive skin and had no problems using this product.

I originally bought this product to use on my 5 month old baby during a camping trip. After consulting with my baby's pediatrician, she told us not to use any bug repellents on the baby since her skin is so sensitive. My husband and I decided to use it on ourselves since we would be holding her and wanted to avoid chemicals. Both of us hated the product. It had a very strong odor and was very greasy. We ended up taking showers before bedtime to get it off! The worst part was that right after we applied it, we would see bugs landing on us. We threw the rest of the bottle away after trying it for 2 nights!

I love the stuff it smells wonderful and it doesn't leave you feeling all sticky. It is safe for children and pets and it really works. I have even used it on our dog and it kept the bugs off of him and he smelled great too. It is also deet free.

I am usually a big fan of Burt's Bees products. They are a responsible company that makes quality products. But this insect repellent was much too greasy and has a strong "herbal" odor. I am sure it is healthier than the more common brands but I still don't want to use it anymore. And I agree with the other comments that it's not really a "spray". More of a stream that you have to rub on. As for effectiveness, it seems to work fairly well in a regular backyard setting; not sure how it works in heavily wooded areas.

This stuff works great! It does come out in a stream from the 'spray' nozzle- so it is easier to put on your hands and rub in. Which is simple enough- but than the bottle gets a bit slippy- I vote for a pump dispenser too. It has a pleasant smell- much better (and healthier) than any DEET containing bug sprays IMHO! :)
