Comments about Safety 1st Summit High Back Booster Car Seat - Proton:

Great looking, reviews are safe (which is most important) but an absolute nightmare to take cover off and clean. The green (tritan) color shows dirt VERY easily so cleaning is necessary often. The instructions included were for Summit Deluxe Highback Booster (which I know is the same but under a different name) but did NOT show the additional 2 elastic straps that hold the seat bottom cover that my car seat has. My guess is that they were added later or only on the Summit one. Not a big deal except you cannot take them off, so we had to cut them to get the cover off. So now everytime my son sits in the seat, the bottom seat cover rides up from the base. We're going to put velcro on it. You have to remove numerous other parts to get the seat cover off, took ~45 minutes to do. We still have not gotten it back on properly, the lips that hold the harness straps into the seat are constantly popping out. Cleaning the seat is a MUST with a toddler so I am very disappointed in myself for not checking this part out thoroughly.

Comments about Safety 1st Summit High Back Booster Car Seat - Proton:

We bought this seat for our 13 month old (24lbs) to move him out of his infant car seat. He loves this seat!
The directions make it look hard but it was very easy to install. (We have an older car so we use the belt instead of the latch system.) The orange color is very cool. My husband calls it the race car seat.
Our son seems very comfortable in it, his head is not pushed forward as some people have complained. The seat is very sturdy and I haven't had any problems with the belt twisting. So far an excellent buy.

Comments about Safety 1st Summit High Back Booster Car Seat - Proton:

I felt that this seat was a great buy. At first. It feels sturdy, comfy, and the arms fold up and can be covered with the padding. This was a big plus, as my toddler's seat is in the middle, and she can crawl into from either side much easier with the arms folded up.
I love the adjust from the front feature for the shoulder harnesses as well.

On the down side, the second (and third) time my girl rode in her seat, she had a potty training accident. I had put a waterproof pad in the seat, but she tossed it out. Since it's summertime in the south, her seat stunk like the south end of a northbound camel by the time I pulled it out the next day to take the padding off.

Now, I'm not a car-seat newby. I've used many, many carseat models with my four children, and usually, cleaning the pad involves slipping the two ends of the harness out, and unhooking a few loops of elastic. This sucker requires an engineering degree. Prepare to strip down the seat to its bare bones to remove the padding. You're going to end up with a pile of clips, clip guides, the entire harness, two separate pieces for the carseat cover, ***and*** you get to remove a metal rod, which disassembles the carseat off of the base!
After disassembling and reassembling the beast, I feel that I deserve some sort of certificate of carseat proctology. And to add insult to injury, the instruction manual is stored conveniently in the pee collection pool just under your baby's bum. Thanks a lot Mr. Carseat Designer!

Even with all of the good features, this alone would keep me from purchasing this type of seat again. I like to clean the carseat padding pretty regularly anyway, and it's just way more hassle than it's worth. My husband wanted to just throw the seat away when he saw how involved it was to remove the padding.
