I have a concern...when I washed it for my granddaughter to use all the spots came off. Is that whats supposed to happen? I won't let her play with it until I find out if it's safe or not. The spots made it look so much cuter. I didn't mind paying the money but I am worried.

I had one of these when I was a child and that was my primary reason for buying one for my daughter. Little did I know how much she would adore her Sophie. The funny thing is, everywhere we go, other babies have them too! It's pricey but worth the money. My 4 month old daughter can easily grab Sophie and put her head or legs in her mouth without getting frustrated. Other teethers seem a little more difficult to manipulate. Sophie is a keeper and we will be giving her as gifts to other new moms for sure!

I purchased this teether for my daughter when she was about 4 months and just starting to get things into her mouth. She is able to easily get every part of it into her mouth and laughs ever time she makes it squeak. It does smell a bit like rubber when you first wash it, but once you wash it a couple times, it goes away. We call ours Lulu...not really sure why :) It does look a bit like a dog toy, and it caught our Husky's attention when he heard it squeak, but if you can get past that fact, it is a really wonderful toy for little ones.

We'd never heard of Sophie and didn't know anything about all the hype around her - she was received as a gift.

At the time, we got a good laugh because the package is a bit over the top: a long story about Sophie's origins and how she provides stimulation for "all five senses" including the *taste* of natural rubber! We scoffed and thought "It's just a rubber giraffe, but sure, it's cute." It sat on a shelf for a couple months but we eventually gave it to our 4 month old to play with.

Well, from that moment on we were skeptical no longer. She quickly became the GO TO toy, and our little guy now at 7 months shows no letting up in his adoration. He chews on her legs, her face, uses it as a floppy toy to bounce (harmlessly) off of other things, and when we pass her to him he beams with excitement!

I thought it was just our little guy, but when we were at a party recently there was a 14-month old who literally crawled over a kitchen table just to get to her.

What is it with this adorable little French giraffe? I don't know, but I'm happy she's here!

My husband was floored I spent[$] on what seems like a doggy chew toy, however, our son took to Sophie right away. If it is near him, he gets it and shoves it in his mouth. It is easy for him to grab, chew on, etc. The only thing I'd caution is the feet are a little long and he hasn't figured out he has a gag reflux. Sigh. He never tires of this chew toy and my husband has admitted now that he would have paid double for it!

I can't believe how much my 5 month old loves this giraffe. The moment I gave it to him he was enamored. He gets really frustrated with other teethers because they're so hard they hurt his gums (teeth are just breaking through) and difficult for him to hold. Sophie is really easy for him to get in his mouth. I can't believe it but I'm another advocate of a [$] teething toy!

I purchased one for my 4 month old after much debate because of the price. I couldn't be more satisfied! She was starting to teethe but couldn't hold her teether rings in her mouth herself. Sophie is easy to manipulate and seems very durable. My little one enjoys chewing on her face and ears the most. My only complaint is that the squeaker does attract my mother's dog; but LO doesn't often make it squeak on her own. She is now almost 6 months and Sophie goes everywhere with us!

At first, I wasn't sure what all the hype was about with these little French giraffes, but once our son got his hands on it I was just like all the other fans. We bought it as a teether when my son was about 4 months old, he's now almost 8 months old and still loves it! Definitely on our top 10 list for infants!

I saw a friend with Sophie and her daughter LOVED it. I thought it was probably child specific and was skeptical. But when my daughter started to teeth when she was 3 months old, I re-thought things. She was too young to really be able to manage traditional teething rings. (I think it's cruel for a baby to start teething before they have the hand coordination to hold a teething toy in their mouth). Sophie is perfect. My daughter actually loves to chew on Sophie's face! But every now and then she chews on a leg. It's wonderful because she can hold onto the legs and the head easily reaches my daughter's mouth w/o a lot of hand coordination needed.

Both of my boys LOVE this toy! My 8 month old loves it as a teether and my 20 month old loves to carry it around and "squeek" it. They both constantly fight over it and are forever laughing at the noise it makes. They take it everywhere with them. I should have gotten two!!

The giraffe comes with us nearly everywhere. He LOVES her. Though she seems so simple, she never gets old. So durable and flexible. By far my son's favorite toy. And Sophie looks good sticking out of my husband's back pocket too.
