Comments about Safety 1st Fever Light™ 1-Second Ear Thermometer:

Inaccurate. Plain and simple, always gave a reading that was 2-4 degrees higher than actual. We've had some panicked moments due to this thing before we figured out it was always high. Now I wonder how often we gave our baby Tylenol or Motrin unnecessarily. Avoid this product.

              Terrible

Comments about Safety 1st Fever Light™ 1-Second Ear Thermometer:

This does not work at all. I took my daughters temp and it said 99.1 but she felt like she was burning up. My mom brought over her Braun ear thermometer and her fever was 103.5!!!!!!!!!!!! That is terrible. I lost all the packaging for this but never really used it until now & now I am out all the money I spent for it!!

Comments about Safety 1st Fever Light™ 1-Second Ear Thermometer:

This thermometer looks the part, easy to use, has a nice large back lit display - but doesn't deliver. 90% of the time it will read 97.7 - on both my twins - which is highly unlikely to be true. When we got one too many 97.7 reading (with a comforting smiley face next to it) and the boys felt too hot for comfort, we turned to the old rect@l thermometer. We were shocked to find a whooping 4.3 degrees discrepancy (taking into consideration the 1 degree difference between rect and ear temps). This is nothing to sneeze at (no pun intended). This could be the difference between 'he's just cranky' and a visit to Dr.'s office.

We continued using it along with taking the REAL temperature for a few more weeks, and found that is was not a fluke, and the inaccuracies are consistent.

This unit it great if you want to skip the hassle and time of taking your child's temperature with a regular thermometer - but not if you actually want to know what that temperature REALLY is.
