Completely useless! Thought they were great at first, but it only took my 18 month old son a couple of weeks to figure out that if he put enough pressure on handle the door would open. I put them on all the doors in my house, wish I would have known how innefective they would be before I wasted the money!

This works great for my 7 year-old Autistic son. He has not figured out how to use them and yet they are easy for adult use. The only reason I did not rate them with 5 stars was because it does take a little time to install them, but once installed, I have had no problems!

It is a little time consuming to put on but well worth it. My daughter got into the closet and ate sunblock, I ordered this right away and she can no longer get in the closet, I also put one on my front door and taught my twin 6 yr olds how to open it in case of an emergency. Well worth it!!!!

I bought these for our fist child and would highly recommend them. They are hard to install as you have to take the entire door handle off the door, however once installed they work like a dream! For our second child we tried the KidCo ones that were much easier to install but our 18 month old had those figured out in two days. These are impossible for a child to be able to open. The only drawback is that it can be tough to open the door from the inside if needed but you can do it with enough pressure to pop the lock.

My baby was only 16 months old before she figured out how to hang on the door handle, easily defeating this lock. I wish the company would make these sturdier, as this is a great concept, and easy to maneuver. I suggest finding another lever lock!

I love this Lever Lock, after having tried 3 different kinds, this one works great since it fits tight between the lever and the door and my children haven't figure out how to work it after a year of having it installed...

My 22 month old daughter discovered last month that with some force, she can pull the lever handle and snap the lock loose. I always try to keep an eye on her and not let her hang on the door handles, but this didn't take much effort or force on her part.

I bought these to keep my curious 18 month old out of the bathrooms and basement door. I installed them upside down rather than worrying about the locking mechanism. You can open the door by pulling up on the handle rather than down. We have a 6 year old who still needs to have access to these locations. I put clear packing tape over the locking mechanism to keep the door from being locked accidentally. It works great!

This lock can be defeated with only slight additional force on the door lever. It didn't even slow my 2 yr old son down. And yes, it was installed correctly. I could accept it if he had figured out the "trick" to operating the mechanism, but all that it required was for him to pull harder on the lever. He just forced it open. I will be returning the product.

I thought these were great at first. But now my 19 month old has figured out that if he pulls down on the lever handle hard enough, it will move the sliding lock and open the door.

                Fits "Most" locks

I ordered a large lot of these, as our house is one with all lever handles. When the time came to install them, I found out they do not fit my handles which are the schlage flair style-- a rather typical brand and style. So, buyers should beware that they fit "most" handles, but do not fit all levers, even some common ones. I'm going to have to return mine and try the other KidCo kind instead.

                Too Easy To Open

My house has handle door knobs on all doors. Initially I bought these to guard rooms against my 2 & 3 year old nieces. When they were able to open the doors anyway I attributed it to the fact that they were too old. Then my 16 mo. old started opening doors and it took less than a day for him to figure out that if he hangs on the handle, enough pressure forces the lock to give and opens the door. If this can't keep 16 mo. olds out/in, then what good is it? BTW, I have 2 of these by Safety 1st and one by Parents and all have the same problem. I think it's a design issue.

My entire house has lever handles, some of which did not come equipped with locks. It beats changing locksets throughout the house. (We had put a lever handle with a lock on our linen closet with the lock button on the inside.) Another hint is that our dog has figured out the lever handles, so it helps keep her out too!

After installing half a dozen of these locks, my 18 month old figured out that all she has to do is pull down really hard on the lever and it slides the lock open. So, now I feel like I've wasted my money!

Try mounting the lock upside down (180deg rotation), so that the button is at the top, this will force the user to lift up on the handle and avoid the problem of it opening with downward force. Most toddlers are not tall enough to open the door in this way.
