Comments about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat - Matrix:

Out little boy is 2-1/2 and has outgrown his Britax Marathon car seat. He is 36 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds. Knowing we needed a new car seat, my wife and I set out to do our diligence and review everything we could, ask friends, post discussions on chat boards, etc. You know, typicaly parent research stuff. What we found were a variety of opinions, reviews, claims by manufacturers, and the like. Some of our friends loaned us their car seats to try, which helped us identify features we liked and disliked.Overall, we appreciated the features and price of the Graco Nautilus. An internet search found pricing to be about the same for almost all retailers [...].Installation in our 2008 Toyota Highlander was relatively simple after the seat was assembled and adjusted according to the directions in the manual. However, I noticed that the head restraint on the car seat interferes with the head rest on the vehicle seat. Since the car's head rest is not removable, this is going to be a problem in the future as we increase the height of the head restraint of the car seat.Speaking of the 64 page manual. I'm an engineer and found the manual to be a bit misleading and confusing (perhaps too much detail?). I strongly recommend that Graco rewrite this manual (especially section 6) in a flowchart style to assist in determining whether you should be using the vehicle harness or not as well as when to use the locking clip. As confident as you may be, before doing anything, please READ THE ENTIRE MANUAL so you understand how to use this product. The LATCH system is acceptable but needs improvement. Graco really needs to design the attaching mechanism to be more lilke the one supplied by Britax. The Graco simple hook is not easy to use if you are frequently moving the seat between vehicles (as we do). Grace recommends the use of a child restraint mat or a towel to protect your car's upholstery. I strongly agree. The built-in harness on this car seat is easy to adjust and use. The harness covers are too small and looked cheap, especially with the weight rating permanently imprinted on them. We repalced them with more comfortable and better looking covers. Our son is very comfrotable in the seat. The only improvement I can see is to have 1 more slot towards the front of the seat for the crotch strap. The recline mechanism is acceptable, but I would prefer a little more adjustability. Again, I think the Britax is better than Graco for this feature. The seat comes with a removable body support. Basically a shaped padding for the child's back. It interfered with properly adjusting the harness and was very uncomfortable for our son. We removed it and were pleased with how our boy fit in the seat. The cup holder and small compartments are a nice feature. Our son loves to store his "things" there. The only complaint I have is if you install the seat on the passenger side of the vehicle and leave a cup in the sup holder, it's a bit difficult to lift a child over the cup holder and out the door.Overall, this car seat appears to be well constructed, adjusts easily and is confortable. I recommend a few minor design changes to make this car seat exceptional. For the price, it's a good buy.

I feel my 3 yr. old son is so much safer in this carseat, he had outgrown his evenflo chase by height so we put him in a booster seat. I found out about this seat and immediately bought it. I like how long he will be able to stay in it and he thinks the cubby holes are really cool. I highly recommend this product.

I purchased two of these wonderful car seats for my youngest grandsons. It is sturdy, multi-functional and is the last car seat they should ever have to use. I love the fact that they will be safe using every aspect of this seat. From toddler to big boy this is an awesome choice. I am considering another one for my 3 year old grandson.

I HAVE A VERY LARGE 2 YEAR OLD THAT OUT GREW HIS CARSEAT, BUT I WAS WORRIED ABOUT HIM BEING IN A BOOSTER SO YOUNG. I BOUGHT THIS SEAT AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. HE THINKS HE IS A BIG BOY IN IT AND HE SEEMS REALLY COMFORTABLE. A GREAT BUY AND WE ARE GETTING READY TO BUY A SECOND ONE!!! IT IS A LITTLE BULKY AND HEAVY COMPARED TO A REGULAR BOOSTER, BUT THE SAFETY FACTOR DEFINITELY MAKES IT WORTH IT. =)

This car seat is great. My 3 yr old is a little big & outgrew his car seat but wasn't ready for a booster yet. This one is great, accommodates his height & weight since the harness goes to 65 lbs. Liked it so much I got one for his sister also.

Comments about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat - Matrix:

I love this carseat. I have been using it for a few months. After I received the seat I loved it so much I bought one for my parents to have in their car and my sister purchased one as well. My 4 year old is 40 lbs. and I wanted him in a 5 point harness. This seat allows him to be in the harness until 60 or 65 pounds (I can't remember which) or it can be used as a booster seat with or without a back. I figure this should last him until he is out of carseats. He loves the very sturdy permanent cup holder and the the way the head rest curves around on the sides (great for napping). The only complaint I have is that the latch on the 5 point harness (where the two metal pieces click in to buckle the child) is quite hard to release. My mom and husband find this frustrating. I have gotten the hang of it but you do need strong fingers! My child cannot unbuckle himself but he can buckle himself. This may be perfect if your child tends to try to unbuckle when he/she shouldn't. Otherwise, I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat - Matrix:

My 4 yr old son has been in this seat for about a year now and I have NO complaints about it. It installs (LATCH) very easily and securely. I also have the comparable Frontier by Britax, and another reviewer commented on her child's head flopping forward when asleep, but these are booster seats and they do not have as much recline as infant and other infant/toddler convertible car seats. The head slumpings happens occasionally on BOTH brands.

Comments about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat - Matrix:

My Son loves his new car seat, we previously had a safety first and a cosco, which only go to 40 lbs with the 5-point harness, with my son only being 2 years old and on the border of hitting 40 lbs we needed something that had the harness with a higher lb rating, this seat is PERFECT just what I wanted. It seems very sturdy and safe. I also didnt notice any sharp edges around the underside of the seat (where it come in contact with the seat of the car) so I dont have to worry about my leather being dented or cut like our previous seats have done. over all I am very happy with my purchase and would buy it again!

I have 3 boys (12, 3 & 20 mths) and I'm amazed just how far car seats have come. Since the birth of my 3 year old I have been through 4 different car seats and finally found a winner!!! I also know several people with toddlers who have this seat and have nothing but praises. My youngest is average in height & weight and fits comfortably in it. I love the ease of releasing the buckle with one hand, easy access cup holders but the highlight is looking back and seeing their heads resting comfortably on the headrest. Stop looking and buy this car seat! I've done the research and for the price of never having to buy another car seat it is worth every penny!

Comments about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat - Matrix:

Based on the great reviews and a good price, I decided to try this seat rather than go for the Britax I had planned to buy. I like the sturdiness of the seat, but I do find it difficult to install as tightly as the Britax roundabout my son just outgrew. Every few days we have to tighten the tethers again, but i assume this is stretching and will stop over time. While my 3 yo son says he likes it and has no complaints, he looks horribly uncomfortable when he sleeps in it. The headrest is just the wrong angle, so when he falls asleep his head won't rest on the side and flops forward like some kind of horrible rag doll. He keeps having to wake up and pick his head up, but it won't stay. I feel pretty guilty watching his 1 yo brother sleeping peacefully in his old Britax roundabout while he's struggling to get comfortable. I guess this isn't an issue for the other reviewers, so maybe it's the angle in our Subaru Forester? While I like the hidden compartments and cup holder, I don't like that it makes it harder to get the kid in and out of the seat. Mostly it's ok because at 3 he wants to climb in and out himself, but when he's sleeping it is an obstacle that I wish were movable. On the other hand, it's a tradeoff because he can now hold snacks and his cup in the cupholder, which is great. If it weren't for the sleeping issue, I'd be a happy reviewer. As it is, I think it was [$] I wish I hadn't spent because now we need a new seat, and we'll keep this as a spare in the other car. Bummer.

My son is very big for his age. He was 6 months and 20lbs. I thought that this car seat would be great because he needs things to go further for his size. This car seat going up to 100 lbs is awesome. Although, I am not going to be able to use it because it's not rear facing (i thought it was when i purchased it) I am going to keep it! Its just a great seat! I had comparison shopped in town and online, Diapers.com just has great Competitive pricing and discounts.

Comments about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat - Matrix:

I use this care seat everyday for my 18 mo old son. We have used it since the day he turned 1yr old. It is a great seat, easy to adjust, SUPER easy to clean & very versatile. I really like the fact that I won't have to keep buying him a new seat as he gets older, this one will do the WHOLE job. My only neg comment is that sometimes when you pull the bottom strap to tighten the shoulder harness, one side gets tighter than the other. I have taken it apart & can't find any apparent reason for this. I will say we also used a Graco infant seat when our son was younger, & had the some problem. Maybe we just pull the strap the wrong way, i dunno. when it happens we just re-adjust & try again. LOVE this seat though!

Comments about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat - Matrix:

We really like this car seat for our 3.5 year old girl and plan on getting another matching one for her younger sister. We really like the cup holder and 2 compartments. I also like that we don't have to buy another car seat when she gets older. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, is that there is a liner that you can remove to clean. I love this idea, but it is floppy and keeps falling and bunching up. I just removed it completely - which works. I do wish it came in "prettier/fun" colors... I have a 3rd girl on the way. But, overall we love it.
